Proverbs 7:23He’s like a man about to be executed with an arrow right through his heart—like a bird that flies into the net, unaware of what’s about to happen.Proverbs Daily is a reader-supported publication. All posts are free, but all donations help spread the message. When you see the word “upgrade,” you’re simply invited to help me make the sacred positively contagious...thank you in advance for becoming a free or paid subscriber.Let me ask you something—what would you have done differently…if you had only known what you know NOW, before you fooled around and found out?Yeah—Fool Around And Found Out…FAAFO. That phrase hits different when it’s your own story, huh? But today, I wanna remix it.Try this one:* Flee Abomination And Follow Obedience. That’s the holy version of FAAFO. Or* Focus Ahead And Forge On. Sometimes you just need to keep your eyes forward. Or my personal favorite—* Forgive All And Figure it Out. Because most of us are learning while we’re limping. So yeah, we’ve all got our FAAFO story.Proverbs 7:23 is a doozy:Young dude…walking straight into disaster. No warning lights. No “turn back now” sign. He’s just vibin’... he’s confident…and then—wait—did you hear that?No you didn’t–and he didn’t either but the arrow was shot. The trap was triggered. And the scripture says it was, “Like a bird that flies into the net, unaware of what’s about to happen.”That’s real life. We don’t plan our worst mistakes. They sneak up on us while we’re scrolling, sipping, or flirting with foolishness. And when it hits, all you can say is, “If I had only known.”But how can you guard yourself from what you don’t know??Let me give you 3 WAYS to protect yourself even in the unknown. Disclaimer, I’m not saying these three ways will always keep you safe, but they will certainly help you in issues that you may not be aware of:1. Pause before you pounce. You don’t have to immediately have everything you desire. Even a five-second pause can stop a five-year regret. So let wisdom get a word in.2. Ask better questions. The wise don’t always know more—they just know that they don’t know everything. So ask: “What’s the cost?” “What’s the consequence?” “Is it worth it?”3. Keep wise voices close. You can’t see every trap set out for you. That’s why God gave you community—real ones who’ll call you out before the trap gets you.And here’s some beautiful news—even when we didn’t know better, grace stepped in. That’s why it’s called G.R.A.C.E.—God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. He covers the fallout, heals the wound, and still calls you wise when you learn from it.My PointYou might’ve fooled around and found out— but grace… found you first…and never lost you since!Prayer“Lord, teach me wisdom—and thanks for catching me early.”Today’s ChallengeThink back one of those “if I had only known” moments in your life. Write it down. Then write beside it what you know now because of it. That’s not shame—that’s tuition. That’s God’s way of saying— Don’t waste the wisdom.About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
