Proverbs 29:25Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.Proverbs Daily is a reader and listener supported program. Thanks in advance! In a world increasingly defined by fear—political, technological, societal—Proverbs 29:25 bluntly reminds us:Fear will prove itself to be a snare. BUT Trusting in God will save us in the end.Someone once said fear is: FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REALAnd if that is so, then trust has to be: TOTAL RELIANCE UPON SAVIOR’S TIMINGOhh now you know that’ll preach! See, I can either look at all this bluster and brash information coming at me 24/7, and accept it as a reality–OR I can put the weight of my world upon a higher plane of reality. You know, that’s what the word ‘trust’ means right? It’s a builder's word that points to something that can hold weight without breaking. And I don’t know of any greater trust more solid than Jesus! But let’s not play like fear ain’t real—it’s powerful. It can entangle us, snag us, trap us. Look at just the past couple of weeks:* The CDC is facing turmoil as we head into the fall with top officials resigning, scientists getting silenced, data being openly questioned. That’ll prove to be a snare.* Federal troops are being deployed into our major cities—from LA., to D.C., Chicago, Baltimore…what’s next? Civil liberties are under fire, trust is being undermined. That’ll prove to be a snare.* And what about the major Cybersecurity threat that nobody’s talking about? The Salt Typhoon—China-backed cyber attacks on all the telecoms for the last 5 years infiltrating over 200 targets in over 80 countries, including the last two US administrations! Yea, that includes your text messages too! That’ll prove to be a snare. And you know that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We haven’t even talked about the financial crisis, or global warming, or the refugee crisis. Not to mention, your rent is due in the next couple of days! So, what’s it gonna be? Fear or trust?Think about it: if we operate in fear—False Evidence Appearing Real—we’re reactive, trapped by panic, playing defense. If we operate in trust—Total Reliance Upon Savior’s Timing—we may not control the outcome, but we can move with collective hope, courage, and wisdom. Romans 8:28 reminds us: all things work together for good…remember we just gotta trust. Even in uncertainty, trust lets us see through the snare—we’re not gonna get caught by what looks real but is only an illusion. Even if you’re not quite at the level of ‘total reliance’ you can build your trust up by taking it one challenge at a time. Before you know it, you’ll be able to trust Him all the way.🙏🏽 PrayerLord, teach me to trust everyday–total reliance upon you.💡 Today’s Challenge:Mentally identify one area today where fear slows you down. Pause. Prayerfully visualize yourself overcoming that fear. Take your time, and see yourself overcoming it, not being snared or snagged by it anymore; and give thanks.About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
