Proverbs 13:13Despise the word, will you? Then you’ll pay the price—and it won’t be pretty! But the one who honors the Father’s holy instructions will be rewarded.Proverbs Daily is a reader-supported publication. All posts are free, but all donations help spread the message. When you see the word “upgrade,” you’re simply invited to help me make the sacred positively contagious...thank you in advance for becoming a free or paid subscriber.I just saw a headline that made me stop mid-scroll. It quoted the infamous—and now deceased—Jeffrey Epstein saying: “The only dog that hasn’t barked
” And then he named who that dog was.Talk about a line that makes you go hmmm
Because when truth starts scratching at the door, eventually something’s gonna bark. And when it finally does
it won’t be pretty. That’s the first half of Proverbs 13:13: Ignore wisdom—there’s always a price to pay. Despise truth—and it will come knocking. You can silence the watchdog for a while
but you can’t silence the consequences forever. That’s why today’s title fits: “The dog that didn’t bark
yet.” Because “yet” always comes.🔩 The Cost of Ignoring the Word“Despise the word” doesn’t mean you curse the Scripture— In fact, you could be quite cozy with scripture and still not take it seriously. You hear truth but treat it like background noise. And when you tune out wisdom long enough, she stops whispering
and starts warning. And when exposure comes? It rarely asks for permission. Hidden things have expiration dates. Deception has a shelf life. Eventually what’s buried starts barking right back at you.Old southern wisdom says: “A hit dog will holler.” And isn’t it funny— that the guilty usually bark the loudest.📜 Wisdom Still SpeaksBut the second half of this verse is a promising tone: “The one who honors the Father’s holy instructions will be rewarded.”Look at the reward of instruction or ‘inward–structure’ that comes from God!The reward is to be truly clean inside. The reward is to find wholeness again as if you were given a new lease on life. You know
the life that you messed up: that means you’re getting mercy instead of judgement! The reward isn’t applause— it’s alignment. Those who honor the Word find stability when the rest of the world shakes. They don’t bark—they build. They don’t panic—they plant.đŸ’„ So RememberYou can muzzle the truth for a season
but when it barks, it bites through the silence.đŸ™đŸœPrayerLord, help me hear the bark before the bite comes.Today’s ChallengeBefore you scroll another headline, pause and ask: “What’s barking for my attention?” What conviction
 what verse
what voice have I been tuning out?Don’t wait for the noise to get ugly. Listen early. Honor what’s holy— and you’ll never fear what’s hidden.About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer. To learn more about Fred and what he’s up to now
