Proverbs 17:28Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent with their mouths shut. They seem intelligent.Proverbs Daily is a reader-supported publication. And for the last 40 years of my ministry career, summers have meant one thing—camp season.Right now, as you’re checking out this episode, I’m deep in the wilderness of North Texas somewhere, speaking at another student camp. And let me tell you—I still love it.I love getting there early, watching the energy build. Vans pull up. Students spill out with duffel bags, flip-flops, energy drinks, and TikTok jokes. They're loud, hyped up, ready to make memories. But I always look for the quiet kid. You know the one—They drift away from the group.Wander to the woods.Sit near the trees.Soak it all in before the week begins. Those are the ones I watch.Because I know: Still waters run deep.🙏🏾 Silence is a Type of KnowingWe fill space with noise—music, podcasts, arguments, opinions—not because we’re informed, but because we’re uncomfortable with our own thoughts. But it’s in silence—beyond the chatter—that we touch deeper wisdom.Silence doesn’t mean ignorance.Silence is receptivity. It’s listening at the soul level.Couples who truly love each other know this. They can sit side-by-side in silence—and feel full, connected, and complete. No forced words. No fillers.Just presence. That’s intimacy. And God?God meets us like that, too.Proverbs 17:28 says:Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise.”Now that’s divine comedy—and divine mercy.Silence gives space. And that space allows room for heaven to fill in what you don’t know. You don’t need all the answers to appear wise. You need humility. You need pause.Because even the angels are watching.Even creation listens. And the silence you offer isn’t empty—It becomes an invitation for wisdom to enter.🪩 Remember this:Silence is a sanctuary where wisdom whispers. Make room for it.PrayerQuiet my spirit, Lord, so Your wisdom can speak clearly.🎯 Today’s ChallengePractice 5 minutes of intentional silence. No music. No scrolling.Just sit.Breathe.Observe.And ask:“What do I need to hear that noise keeps me from?”About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
