And in it, they posted Will saying that his favorite moment was “seeing you all up close.” But internet fans noticed something different—it was like distorted faces, fans holding signs that like changed in the blink of an eye, people with six fingers. Yea tech experts flagged it as suspicious—‘AI artifacts,’ ‘deepfake hallmarks,’ an ‘uncanny nightmare.’Now, I’m no Will Smith hater. I actually love the OG and consider him the Steve Jobs of Hip Hop! But I think people called him out because one: people love to hate Will, and two: because deep down, we all have a radar for what’s real and what’s fake. We see through the façade—no matter how polished the presentation looks.Proverbs 28:11 reads like a mirror held up to our culture right now. “The rich think they know it all.” It’s not just about money — it’s about the illusion of supremacy, the deluded myth that if you have enough wealth, followers, or power, you’ve got all the answers. And you know our precious Western Christianity has drunk some of that Kool-Aid — equating blessings with bank accounts, platforms, or political access. But watch how the text flips it: “the poor can see right through them.” That’s right–They see that! There’s a deep fractal truth here: at every level, from global power down to our personal circles, ego creates blind spots. It’s like the emperor’s new clothes, remember that? Everyone sees through the lie but you — all of the clicks and likes and followers…You know, those so-called friends who only hang around for clout? Come on now, we all know it’s just smoke and mirrors or should we say data and algorithms? Those who aren’t playing the game—the so-called “poor”—have actually have something that’s priceless: clarity. Maybe it’s because they have less, they’re not burdened with getting inline. In fact, those without “status” are often the ones most able to discern truth, because they don’t have anything to lose by telling it straight. Now this ain’t just about billionaires that can buy Twitter and turn it to ‘X’ at their own whim. Think about how AI can filter us up and make us look like we have it all together in front of the thousands of so called ‘friends’…but at the end of the day, we resemble more of what Jesus described as inwardly poor, blind and naked. That’s why we need people in our lives who aren’t impressed by our highlight reel. People who don’t show up for the prestige or the paycheck, but for honest relationship. Those are the ones who help us stay grounded, who can say, “I see you. The real you.”And maybe that’s the invitation of Proverbs 28:11 for today: stay humble enough to hear truth from voices our culture often ignores. Resist building these little empires of appearances. Value the people who can see right through you—and love you anyway.Remember: Drop the fakeness: They see that. You’re more than what your profile says.🙏🏽 PrayerHelp me remember–every time I’m fake–they see that.💡 Today’s Challenge:Identify one area you’ve been impressing rather than being honest. Share truth with a trusted friend or journal about what really matters—no filters, no façade. Let someone see the real you today.About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
