Is this not the Mecca? The main thang? The heartbeat of Proverbs:“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”We all love this verse. But here’s the trip…this is day 276 of the year. Back in January, I committed to write and publish one Proverbs devotional every single day of this year. That means this is devotional number 276. And somehow—I haven’t even touched this verse yet! 10 months in, and it lands right here in October. The month of October Surprises. In politics, in life, in our world—when chaos shows up uninvited: Trust Still Holds Us Together. This is how chaos just blindsided me: Today, my group P.I.D. drops our new single In Our Own Skin. I stayed up the whole night finishing the video. Good news, got er’ done…the team loved it. But before I knew it, I was also juggling a recent car wreck, insurance claim calls, my wife suddenly fell sick, so I stepped up to cook dinner (vegan fried rice in the wok-soul food style), worked my 9-to-5, picked up groceries, edited an entire fricken’ video…all on 5 hours of sleep. The hardest part was two days ago when a close friend told me, “Fred, your problem you’re not trusting God enough. You’re doing too much.” That actually made me mad! But I couldn’t deny it. I just sat there humbled. That’s when I realized—trust isn’t passive. Trust is working, sweating, cooking, caring, creating…but handing God the director’s chair. We’re all just actors in the scene, but He’s the Author of the script. So today, this verse is alive for me. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Don’t lean on your limited lens. What if your exhaustion is evidence that you’re living the story God already scripted?I don’t know what your week has looked like. But I know this: when you lean on Him, trust with your whole heart, He never steers you wrong. Ask Job. Ask Jesus. Ask your elders. They’ll tell you what I’m telling you now:Trust turns turmoil into testimony, not by removing the weight, but by enabling you to carry it.PrayerI trust you all the way right now and forever.Today’s Challenge:If you are in that same place, overwhelmed, overworked, waiting for God to come through, drop me a comment. Tell me where you’re trusting him right now, and when the breakthrough hits. Testify, tell me, tell somebody. Don’t let it pass unspoken.
