Proverbs 20:5Counsel in a person’s heart is like deep water, but an understanding person draws it out.Proverbs Daily is a reader-supported publication. It’s all there… settled, submerged, protected. But once again… you got it all… almost. If only you could reach it.💧 This proverb paints the scene perfectly:“Counsel in a person’s heart is like deep water…”Now that word “counsel” in Hebrew is עֵצָה (ʿēṣâ) — it doesn’t just mean “general counsel or a nice plan.” It means “the plan.” Your plan. God’s plan. Hidden deep in the reservoir of your heart. The problem isn’t that you don’t have it. It’s that you haven’t developed consistent access to it yet. So you got the whole plan… almost. Ain’t it funny how ‘almost’ can be a tragic word? Because ‘all’ of ‘most’ is still not all!So you hit and miss…you have enough wins to convince you that you’re on to something, but you have enough losses to remember that proper access to that genius deep within requires understanding.🪣 See, if wisdom is like those deep waters — then a person of understanding? That’s the rope and bucket. That’s the way to consistent access!Without it, the brilliance stays buried. But here’s the good news: You don’t have to look far for that person.Yes, sometimes it’s a mentor, a coach, a trusted voice — someone who can see your blind spots and say, “Hey, dig there. That’s where the gold is.”But sometimes, that person of understanding… is you becoming you.The more you grow in wisdom, the more you build access to your own deep waters. You start to see your patterns, your pain, and your potential — and you learn how to draw out what’s been waiting for release.✨ Let’s face it — most of us already have what we need. The dream. The purpose. The talent. It’s all sitting in the well.Well…until you become wise enough to draw it out on demand, it stays untapped, unrealized, unused.🧭 Look: You already have the answer deep inside you. The plan is in you. The gold is in you. The genius is in you.The key? Build reliable access to it. That means reflection. That means mentors. That means slowing down long enough to listen to the deep part of your own soul.💬 Remember:“You are great, deep within. Build access to the greatness of who you are — then draw it out and share it with the world.” 🌍PrayerLord, reveal the deep plan within, and teach me access.Today’s ChallengeTake 10 minutes today in stillness — no phone, no music — just your imagination and your breath. Picture those deep treasures rising from the waters of your heart — wisdom, clarity, creativity — coming up bucket by bucket. End with gratitude– because deep calls to Deep. 💧About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
