Description

It is 1935 and Hercule Poirot's horror of flying is compounded when a fellow passenger on a cross-channel aeroplane is found murdered. From seat No.9, Hercule Poirot was ideally placed to observe his fellow air passengers. Over to his right sat a pretty young woman, clearly infatuated with the man opposite; ahead, in seat No.13, sat a Countess with a poorly-concealed cocaine habit; across the gangway in seat No.8, a detective writer was being troubled by an aggressive wasp. What Poirot did not yet realize was that behind him, in seat No.2, sat the slumped, lifeless body of a woman.

Hercule Poirot hates flying, so it's almost a welcome diversion when one of his fellow passengers on a cross-channel flight is murdered. Cue 90 minutes during which you will suspect every one and have your brain cells mixed into a variety of cerebral kedgeree by the number of red herrings on offer, until the complex case is solved. All I will say is, never stay on a plane that's also carrying a wasp! (Jane Anderson, radio editor)Death in the Clouds by Agatha Christie
