Description

This story is about Red Rooster, an arrogant bird who constantly boasts about his bravery and fighting skills to the other barnyard animals, including a new, peaceful drake. Despite chasing off one rival and bragging loudly from the henhouse roof, his claims are put to the test when a hawk swoops down and grabs him while he's too busy boasting to heed warnings. He is only saved when his master shoots the hawk, but the rooster foolishly tries to take credit for the victory. The other animals, however, saw what really happened and call him out, leaving the rooster humbled and illustrating the moral that pride and boasting ("crowing too soon") can lead to downfall and make one ignore real danger.
