Description

In this powerful episode of Tell Me Your Story with Chris Baker Jr., we sit down with Max King, a man whose life proves that even the darkest chapters can lead to a story of hope.

Growing up in Sandusky, Ohio, Max’s journey was far from easy. Like many, he faced the harsh realities of addiction, personal struggles, and the difficult road that comes with trying to find your place in the world. But Max refused to let his past define his future.

Today, Max serves as a Chemical Dependency Counselor at the Recovery Institute of Ohio, dedicating his life to helping others break free from addiction and rebuild their lives. His journey through recovery has not only transformed him but has also given him a deeper purpose—to guide others toward hope and healing.

Beyond his work in recovery, Max channels his passion and life experiences into music as a Guitarist and Vocalist for the band Half Knocked Out, using his voice and creativity as another outlet for truth and resilience.

In this episode, Max opens up about:

• His battle with addiction
• The moment everything changed in his recovery journey
• What eight years of sobriety truly means to him
• How helping others became his mission
• The role music plays in healing and self-expression

Max’s story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, purpose can be found after pain, and every day sober is a victory worth celebrating.

This conversation is raw, inspiring, and filled with hope for anyone who has ever struggled, supported someone in recovery, or needed a reminder that your story isn’t over yet.

Because sometimes the most powerful stories…
are the ones that almost didn’t make it.
