Description

Our journey through the Games of the modern Olympic era reaches 1968 when the host city was Mexico City. We hear from two Olympic champions at those Games. First, American high jumper, Dick Fosbury whose new style of jumping with the Fosbury Flop helped him to the gold medal and went on to revolutionise the sport. And we hear from the winner of the women's 800 metres, Madeline Manning Mimms, who had to overcome racial prejudice from her fellow Americans before becoming the first American black woman to win Olympic gold in track and field athletics.
