This week we’re joined by Stephen Lawton who with over 14 years working on the Railway has more then enough experience to be the Station Master at Ramsbottom train station.
Everyone I meet, be they local or just visiting Ramsbottom loves the Steam Trains and railway here. This is all made possible by hundred of volunteers, from people getting involved with the trains themselves, to people simply working to sell tickets, tidy the platforms or prune the bushes. You don’t have to know anything about trains to be able to help.
Details on how you can volunteer can be found here: East Lancs Railway Volunteering Program
One of the new things that Ramsbottom Station is getting is the ability to get married at the station, news on the very first wedding there will be on the East Lancs Railway website.
Ramsbottom Station is smack bang in the middle of Ramsbottom (sort of) but you really can’t miss it, it’s the wooden looking structure with trains going in and out of it.
It’s well worth a visit, even if it’s just to stand on the bridge whilst trains pass below you.
