It’s that time of the year when family time tends to eat into my podcasting time, that coupled with a demanding work schedule and it was a perfect storm, so apologies for the recent tardiness regarding the podcast schedule.
Enough talk of that though, let’s crack on with what I do have for you this week.
This week, I had a day off work, actually my only day off work outside of the bank holidays this Christmas. My mission, to try and get my Christmas shopping done, something I sort of succeeded in. I’ve got a few bits left to do but, as my Dad used to say, “I’ve broken its back”.
The interesting part of the trip involved me heading to Summerseat Garden Centre, which is always a great place to visit, especially around Christmas time.
On the way back I ended up going via the notorious Bass Lane {dun dun duuunnn!}.
You might not believe it, but it was actually first time on Bass Lane since moving here, I know, the bad press has been enough to cause me to avoid it. In actual fact, as I’ve talked about before, Bass Lane was one of the reasons we stopped looking at Summerseat when we were looking for a house to buy.
If you’re not aware of Bass Lane, it’s essentially a direct route between the roads coming off the motorway and Summerseat, however it’s single lane in parts with passing areas.
These can only accommodate two cars, and there are often arguments with people who do not know this, to be fair, there could do with signs going up explaining this two car maximum rule. I luckily was aware of this, and was sure to stick to just me and the car in front. I survived a Bass Lane journey, but I can’t say I’m eager to have my second go though.
Ramsbottom United News: 04:50This week instead of trying to backtrack through all the past results between the last episode of the podcast and this one, I’m going to just provide the latest scores, who we’re playing next and where we are in the league.
Sadly, our winning form in the FA Trophy came to an end against AFC Telford United where Ramsbottom lost 2 goals to nil away in a hard fought match. Unfortunate for the loss, but you had a fantastic run guys.
Better news though is the last match for Ramsbottom was against current top of the table and in fantastic form Lancaster City where we won 1 nil with the only goal of the match coming from Ryan Salmon who has already netted us 8 goals this season in just 15 appearances. Someone call Rammy Cadets because Salmon is on fire.
The next match for Rammy is away to Prescot Cables on Saturday 17th December, kick-off is at 3pm. Good luck to all the travelling fans and enjoy the match Rammy. Or maybe the other way around?

It’s Christmas, it’s event central right now but if you want to check out what events are coming up in and around Ramsbottom take a look at the events page, here are some upcoming events from that list:
The two big ones this weekend are the Santa’s Grotto and it’s Christmas Market time with Bridge Street closing to traffic early on Saturday the 17th of December for all the stalls and activities to take place. The weather so far on Saturday looks good, around 8 degrees expected and no rain, which is what we like to see. As always check out the full events calendar page for all the details of these events and other things taking place around the town.
