Restore, Rebuild, Rededicate - Nehemiah 2 - August 28, 2022

The hardest part of rebuilding is often emotional.

In the process of rebuilding most wonder if it is worth the effort.

Nehemiah is about rebuilding what has fallen or been destroyed. It becomes a pattern we can use to rebuild in our lives.

1. What Nehemiah felt. Nehemiah 1:4

His compassion compelled him to seek God.

It requires courage to rebuild. Nehemiah 2:2-5

Before we can rebuild we must CARE.

Do you care enough to rebuild your relationship….

With God?

With family?

With friends?

With your church?

We can’t live as adversaries of God’s Word and expect to receive God’s promises!

Our relationship with God must be rebuilt before anything else can be rebuilt.

We can’t wait for some else to apologize or the relationship may never be rebuilt.

2. What Nehemiah saw. Nehemiah 2:11-18

He found favor with the King but opposition when he started to rebuild!

His enemies ridiculed him, lied about him and finally threatened him.

Nehemiah 4:7-8

Nehemiah faced opposition from both outside and inside.

The biggest obstacle was discouragement.

Remember: Few things worth doing are easy!

3. What Nehemiah did. Nehemiah 2:17-18

Nehemiah planned the work.

Nehemiah brought unity to the work.

Nehemiah motivated the workers to work with a trowel in one hand

and sword in the other.

Rebuilding from the ruins of life requires intentional, persevering, believing effort!
