In diese Episode geht es um den Film Mulholland Drive von Autorenfilmer David Lynch. Lynch ist nicht so sehr daran interessiert Geschichten durch Plot zu erzählen. Ihm kommt es vor allem auf Stimmungen und Gefühle an und die Möglichkeiten, wie diese mit dem audiovisuellen Medium Film umgesetzt werden können. Das Ergebnis ist daher häufig eine surreal anmutende Traumwelt, die nur ihrer eigenen Logik folgt.
Lynch selbst sagt, dass es für ihn bei der Wahrnehmung eines Films nicht primär wichtig ist, ob man dem Plot folgen kann. Wichtig ist nur, sich darauf einzulassen, in eine andere Welt hineingezogen zu werden.
Trotzdem ist der Inhalt von Mulholland Drive letztlich für viele Leute nachvollziehbar und erklärbar und so geben auch wir unsere eigenen oder Erklärungsversuche anderer wider. Wer den Film ganz unvoreingenommen sehen möchte, sollte ihn natürlich vor dem Podcast schauen.
