Legit good sci-fi is hard to come by these days. Lately you either get a sci-fi film that plays on tropes you see in the genre all the time or you get a film that tries too hard and can't execute the themes it's going for. Thankfully Annihilation manages to be a fine film that while good in its own right especially when it comes to the storytelling, it may ultimately not be the type of movie for everyone. "Give Me The Names"...Four words which signifies Jackie Chan's character being fed up with the bs served to him. Only twice have they accomplished in doing great adaptations with Speed Racer and Guyver: Dark Hero. Quick Rundown: This Power Rangers movie turned out to be quite a surprise and a great addition to the franchise mythos. You have the core 5 cast who have great chemistry with one another with RJ Cyler being the breakout star. The action is serviceable and works for what the movie is accomplishing in giving us these rangers in action. Elizabeth Banks hams it up as Rita Repulsa and it works greatly. Kong: Skull Island unlike Godzilla, manages to strike a fine balance between the human characters and Kong himself which results in a movie that's is really entertaining and fun to watch. They waste no time giving you King Kong but the island the characters are on is also the highlight as well. John C. Reilly ends up stealing the show but Sam Jackson is right behind him as well.
