Последние данные о количестве людей без гражданства на территории Республики Таджикистан, которые можно найти в открытых источниках о количестве, это перепись населения за 2010 год. Тогда, на вопрос определения своего статуса гражданства, 1 326 человек затруднились это сделать. Данные последней переписи 2020 года будут озвучены осенью 2021 года. Между тем, статистика только двух неправительственных организацией, ОО «Право и процветание» и ОО «Чашма» из Хатлонской области, занимающихся этой проблемой, показывает, что, начиная с 2014 по февраль 2021 года, в Таджикистане ими было выявлено более 50 тысяч человек, которые живут без статуса, под риском оказаться лицами без гражданства.
В декабре 2019 года в Таджикистане вступил в силу Закон «Об амнистии в связи с легализаций правового статуса иностранных граждан и лиц без гражданства, незаконно пребывающих на территории Республики Таджикистан». Сколько лет он будет действовать и на какую категорию граждан он рассчитан?

Этот метод в народе называется «облавами».
Как правило, облавы устраиваются сотрудниками военкоматов, в гражданской форме, часто в сотрудничестве с милиционерами, в общественном транспорте, на рынках, в торговых центрах и других местах скопления народа. Задержания происходят в насильственной форме, без разбирательств, без требований предъявить документы. Молодых людей задерживают и принудительно отправляют в ближайшие военкоматы. Бывали случаи, когда родители жаловались на то, что сотрудники военкоматов незаконно врывались в дома граждан, отлавливая молодых людей сонными и забирали их, как преступников.
