孟飞Phoenix英语美文朗读《老外为什么不担心重名》图片、配乐及文字归原版权方或原作者所有录音、剪辑、主播：孟飞Phoenix背景音乐：柏木広树 - Rabo de Nube节目源自微信公众号：英语美文朗读老外为什么不担心自己的重名率主播：孟飞Phoenix中国⼈起名字有着诸多传统，很讲究出处和⽂化。 比如《易经》上讲，君⼦应该随着时间⾰新改变自⼰：“大人虎变，其文炳也；君子豹变，其文蔚也”，因此有⼈起名——莫⽂蔚。 《诗经》有云：“⼤姒嗣徽音，则百斯男”。“林徽因”因此得名，意为美德。《滕王阁序》里写到：“雄州雾列，俊采星驰”。周星驰。 ⾦庸小说里有个任盈盈——“盈盈⼀⽔间，脉脉不得语”。 还有冰心、徐悲鸿、金克木、陈丹青这些不管你能不能说出个所以然但都会觉得清雅端庄的名字。 ⼀些外国汉学家给自⼰起的中文名也是如此，比如：马悦然、史景迁、费正清。雅致，独特。 所以有⼈纳闷⼉：为什么总觉得外国⼈永远是那⼏个名字呢？他们不觉得 朱莉、彼得这些名字很“烂⼤街”吗？回答问题之前，我们先讲一个人物故事吧：King David—⼤卫王。（大胃王）图片大 卫 王《圣经》记载，⼤卫是公元前10世纪时的以⾊列国王，⼤概是我们周朝的 时候。他最著名的故事就是跟巨⼈“歌利亚”的交⼿。巨人嘛，自然身材高大，力大无穷；他身着重甲，⼿持利刃，带兵进攻以⾊列，⼀副不可战胜的样 ⼦。牧童⼤卫却是⼀身便装。他冷静地捡了几块石子，拿起⼿中的机弦，分毫不差地击中了歌利亚唯⼀没有遮挡的额头，他顿时扑倒在地。大卫⾛过去，用歌利亚的⼑割下了他的头颅。David and Goliath..如此⼀战成名，成就了以弱胜强的经典西⽅典故。米开朗基罗雕了⼀尊俊美的⽯像纪念他。扑克牌中的⿊桃K也是他。⼤卫精通音律和诗歌，相传《圣经》里的绝⼤多数赞美诗都出自他⼿。⼤卫王执政40年，留给后⼈⽆数诗歌、音乐、荣耀和⾦银财宝，被认为是 以⾊列最伟⼤的国王。所以理所当然地，西⽅⼈会如此喜爱这个名字。其他圣经名字，比如Matthew, Joseph, Andrew, Rebecca, Sarah, Rachel等 等，也同样受到⼈们的尊重。⼈们又怎会嫌弃这些名字……“烂⼤街”呢？英语名字本身也有含义，没错，但那不是重点。重点是叫过这个名字的⼈。这是第⼀。第⼆：中国⼈避讳圣贤和先祖的名字以示尊重；西⽅⼈相反，他们认为继 承他们的名字，才是尊重。 聊完这个区别，我们就可以继续说说细节了。教 名 传 统在英语里，名字叫做“given name”或者“first name”，严格区分男⼥。 过去它被⼴泛称为“教名——Christian name”，是婴儿在受洗时所得的名字， 区别于姓氏。 根据他们的说法，在英语国家：In English-speaking cultures, a person's Christian name is commonly their first name and typically the name by which they are primarily known. 宗教自然是英语名字的⼀⼤宝库。但不限于此。你甚⾄可以稍加发挥。比如奥斯卡影帝“小李子”。很多年前的⼀天，妈妈怀着他去参观达·芬奇的 画展，突然腹中⼀阵异动，母亲大人⼼领神会，就用达芬奇的名字“里奥纳多”，也就是英语名字“Leonard”的意⼤利版，给未来的影帝取名：Leonardo DiCaprio。这个不算奇怪，英语历来有吸收外语的能⼒。所以英语里有像Victoria这样的拉丁名字，Donald 这样的凯尔特名字，还有希腊名字Sophia，希伯来名字Rebecca，西班牙名字Isabel，法国名字 Gabrielle，德国名字Allison，俄罗斯名字Natalie，波斯名字Jasmine，等等， 加上盎格鲁·萨克逊本族的诸多名字.......其实，好名儿挺多的。 所以呢：英文名字是从“名字库”里选的，不是从字典中选的。 如果不了解这些，你就会起⼀些奇怪的名字，比如：Apple/Cherry/Candy/Crystal/Sunshine/Rainbow/Lucky/Cissy/Kitty/ Fanny/Dragon/Shark/Shadow/River/Angelababy… 图片有⼈说：牛津词典里的每个单词，都有可能是某个中国⼈的英⽂名。 唉。昵 称 文 化说回欧美人的名字。 ⼀个名字还会有不同的变形。这就是所谓的“nickname”——昵称。 这个领域里，充满了主观和争议。变化简单的例⼦有：James, 昵称Jim，或者Jimmy；Jennifer 昵称Jen，或者 Jenny。词形变化⼤也很多。比如Abby和Belle都可以是Gabrielle的昵称；Bob是 Robert的昵称；Bill是William的昵称。变化⼤，这是第⼀件麻烦事。 第⼆，有些不同的名字共用相同的昵称。这就很让人手忙脚乱。 比如Christina/Martina的昵称都可以是Tina；还有，Edgar, Edmond, Edward都可以用Eddie做昵称。刚才说了，英语中严格区分性别；但昵称的性别就不总是那么清晰了。比如Alexander和Alexandra都可以叫Alex。Christopher 和Christina 都可以 叫Chris。⾄于某个Alex、某个Chris是男是女，那只能靠猜了。 第三，同⼀个名字可能产生无数种昵称。比如Richard，它可以被昵称为 Rich/Rick/Rico等⼗⼏种，甚⾄还有让⼈羞羞的：Dick。这么说吧：如果⼀个班上有30个小朋友，男⼥⽣各占⼀半，男⽣都叫 Richard，⼥⽣都叫Elizabeth，⼤家都使用昵称。从理论上说，全班都不 会重名。因为伊丽莎白的昵称包括：Bess, B2021-10-1116 min

The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a challenge to a race-conscious admissions program at the University of Texas at Austin, handing supporters of affirmative action a major victory.
The decision, Fisher v.
