大约一周前，苹果拒绝了 Parler 重新在应用商店上架的请求。比起 Twitter/Facebook 的巨大流量，也许你并不知晓 Parler 的存在。它和 Twitter 类似，是一个社交媒体平台。尽管被视为特朗普支持者和极端言论的大本营，但 Parler 建立的初衷是言论自由：这个以法语单词 parler 命名的网站，本意为「说话」。
在年初的冲击国会山事件之后，谷歌指责 Parler 存在大量暴力煽动的内容，随后将其从谷歌应用商店下架。苹果和亚马逊随后也相继将其封杀。而这些动作，也正是 Alt-tech （另类科技或者说可替代科技）崛起的一个信号。过去 4 年间，诸如 Gab,Mewe,LBRY 以及中文用户更为熟悉的长毛象（Mastodon）这样的媒体平台不断涌现，它们的共同特征是拥有更为宽松的审查政策——尽管这并不意味着 Alt-tech 的产品更好用。
