ASH CLOUDASH CLOUDBroadening the approach to livestock methane mitigation, the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research study with Rod Mackie, University of IllinoisCreating a win win for farmers/ranchers and the environment would be game changing across the whole livestock climate space. The key is to understand the kinetics of methane production by the rumen microbiome and identify opportunities to capture that energy within the animal for production. This approach mitigates methane emissions and decreases feed costs. Plus, creating this win win overcomes the not insignificant implementations/uptake challenge. Methane is the end point of a whole series of complex microbial metabolism in the rumen of cattle and sheep. Most current research is simply trying to prevent this last s...2023-11-0233 minGenome InsiderGenome InsiderJGIota: Looking Back at How Cow Rumen Samples Landed on a SyllabusBack in 2011, JGI-supported researchers published a paper in the journal Science. They’d used metagenomics to sift for microbial genes encoding carbohydrate-chomping enzymes in cow rumen — and found 27,000 candidates. The data from that study is now used across California State University campuses for biotechnology education as part of a course-based undergraduate resource experience. Hear from CSU San Marcos Professor Matt Escobar and UC Davis Associate Professor Matthias Hess, also the chair of the JGI User Executive Committee, on how that study went from the lab to the classroom. Links from this episode:Fin...2022-11-1708 minASH CLOUDASH CLOUDRuminant Methane Production with Dr Matthias Hess - UC DavisDr Matthias Hess has been spearheading the assessment of compounds and feed additives for their impact on cattle methane emissions in the United States. Matthias is a microbiologist in the department of animal science at UC Davis where he has spent the last 8 years looking into the ruminant microbiome to better understanding how these different microbes breakdown complex plant materials into smaller molecules that can be utilized by the animal.Matthias current work is leading research focused on understanding the biochemistry of how these microbes convert plant materials into small molecules that can be utilized by the...2022-09-0622 minThe Fuzz Life PodcastThe Fuzz Life PodcastEpisode 35: Guitar Cabinet IR Responses w/ FREE DOWNLOADIn this episode we take a look at what a guitar cabinet impulse response is, how they are used, and check out some sound samples from the FREE Fuzzlord IR Sample Pack!   Download the free IR sample pack at https://fuzzlordeffects.com/ Big thanks to all of our https://www.patreon.com/fuzzlordeffects supportors: Adam Hays Adam Johnson Adam Reissman Aidan Alex Diaz Alvin Carter III Ander Goya Andrew Encinas Anthony Jamison Art Arredondo Ben Gibbins Brendan Hooper Cadaver H...2022-06-2009 minProAgni Australia PodcastProAgni Australia PodcastRuminant Methane Production with Dr Matthias Hess - UC Davis"I believe we need to think about not only methane reduction, but also taking that and converting it into better protein" Ass.
