Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
When Does a Mourner Resume Wearing Tefillin?
The Shulhan Aruch (Orah Haim 38:5) writes that a mourner does not wear Tefillin on the first day of mourning. If, for example, one's family member passed away, Heaven forbid, on Sunday night, and the funeral takes place on Monday, the mourner does not wear Tefillin on Monday, and he resumes wearing Tefillin on Tuesday. Often, the burial takes place the day after the passing. Hacham David Yosef (contemporary), in his Halacha Berura (vol. 3, p. 215), brings different views among the Poskim as to when the mourner resumes wearing Tefillin in such a case. The Maharit Sahalon (1559-1638) maintained that if the...

Daily Bitachon
Yetziat Mitzrayim Every Day
Welcome to Daily Bitachon. Pesach is over, and we'd all like to go back to our regular lives; start eating less and whatever else. We'd like to get back to normal . But back to normal doesn't mean forgetting the lessons that we learned over the holiday. It says in Devarim 16:1, where the Torah talks about Pesach, In the spring month, slaughter Korban Pesach, don't eat any חמץ for seven days, because Hashem took you out of Mitzrayim, and you went in a rush. And what's the purpose of the this holiday? למען תזכור את יום צאתך מארץ מצרים, so that you should remember the day you got out of Mitzrayim, כל ימי חייך, all the days of your life . Rashi says, what does למען תזכור that you should remember mean? That through the Korban Pesach and Matzah, you will r...

Neshamah Project Episode 68: Purim and Esh Kodesh
In this special Purim episode of The Neshamah Project, we explore two powerful teachings from the Esh Kodesh, Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira, delivered in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940 and 1942. The Piaseczno Rebbe teaches that the joy of Purim isn’t dependent on circumstances—it’s a decree, even when joy feels impossible. Through the mystical idea of Or Makif—a surrounding light beyond human merit—he shows that salvation and joy can reach us even in the darkest times. Join us as we reflect on how his words offer hope and strength, even when everything seems lost.

Israel from the Inside with Daniel Gordis
When was the last time you saw three newscasters holding back tears?
For those of us who didn’t hear the news until after Shabbat, it was an intense Saturday night. The three additional hostages, it turned out, had been released. But as we’d all become accustomed to seeing their faces on the hostages posters, the faces that we now saw when they actually left Hamas captivity were simply hard to believe. Comparisons like these flooded Israeli social media: The same image came to mind for everyone we spoke to — these men looked like Holocaust survivors. Israelis were in tears. Israelis called for revenge. And th...

The Himmelfarb School's chilling list
The Himmelfarb School, founded more than a century ago, is one of the best-known “religious-Zionist” schools in Jerusalem. In other words, it’s what would be called in America a “religious public school.” Until recently, outside of Jerusalem, and certainly outside of Israel, few people had heard of the school—after all, who knows the schools of a different city? The past year, however, has tragically brought the Himmelfarb School into the news in the most horrific of ways. Nine of its graduates have fallen since October 7—likely more than the losses of any other school in the country.

For September, we're doing something different. Presenting, Unpacking Israeli History. Begin and Ben Gurion had some epics battles, but one of the biggest ones happened in 1952, as these two Israeli giants battled about whether to take German reparations after the Holocaust. In this episode, Noam looks all the way back at this crazy story, and leaves us asking, who was right? ~~~~ Unpacking Israeli History is generously sponsored by Alan Fisher and Barbara Sommer, and Jon and Rachie Teller. ~~~~ Learn more about Unpacked: https://jewishunpacked.com/about/ Visit Unpacked on...
