安·兰德是一位俄裔美国哲学家和小说家，她的哲学理论和小说开创了客观主义（objectism）哲学运动。她的作品强调个人主义、理性的利己主义以及自由放任的资本主义。她相信人们必须通过理性选择他们的价值观和行动，并且个人有绝对权利只为自己的利益而活，无需为他人牺牲自己。

大约一周前，苹果拒绝了 Parler 重新在应用商店上架的请求。比起 Twitter/Facebook 的巨大流量，也许你并不知晓 Parler 的存在。它和 Twitter 类似，是一个社交媒体平台。尽管被视为特朗普支持者和极端言论的大本营，但 Parler 建立的初衷是言论自由：这个以法语单词 parler 命名的网站，本意为「说话」。
在年初的冲击国会山事件之后，谷歌指责 Parler 存在大量暴力煽动的内容，随后将其从谷歌应用商店下架。苹果和亚马逊随后也相继将其封杀。而这些动作，也正是 Alt-tech （另类科技或者说可替代科技）崛起的一个信号。过去 4 年间，诸如 Gab,Mewe,LBRY 以及中文用户更为熟悉的长毛象（Mastodon）这样的媒体平台不断涌现，它们的共同特征是拥有更为宽松的审查政策——尽管这并不意味着 Alt-tech 的产品更好用。

- Subscribe Star：数字内容货币化平台，为内容创作者提供了一种获得稳定收入的手段。
- Rumble：类似 YouTube 的视频平台。
- Mewe：一家美国的社交媒体和社交网络服务，由总部位于加州的 Sgrouples 公司拥有。该网站的界面类似于 Facebook，并自称反对 Facebook 并注重用户数据隐私。对用户发布的内容审查比较宽松。
- Signal：由 Signal 技术基金会和 Signal Messenger LLC 开发的跨平台加密消息服务。Signal 经互联网发送一对一及组群消息，消息可包含图像及视频，它还可以用来经互联网作一对一及组群语音通话。
- Mastodon：官方中文译为万象，网民又称「长毛象」。是一个免费开源的去中心化的分布式微博客社交网络。用户界面和操作方式跟推特类似，但是整个网络并非由单一机构运作，却是由多个由不同营运者独立运作的服务器以联邦方式交换数据而组成的去中心化社交网络。
- LBRY：一个开放源代码去中心化的数字内容分享和交易平台，于 2016 年 7 月上线。搭建于此平台之上的影音分享网站 lbry.tv 和 Odysee.com 被视为传统平台（如 Youtube）的替代品。
- Substack：在 Substack 上，独立出版商可以通过他们的内容，从付费订阅者那里赚钱。Substack 允许出版商从订阅者那里收取费用，并以电子邮件的形式在线发布他们的内容。

- 去中心化网络：去中心化互联网没有第三方掌控，能够实现点对点的数据传输，且每个节点都是一个独立的小中心。用户能对个人信息、财产和网络使用自由掌控。
- Jim Crow laws：吉姆·克劳法，1876 年至 1965 年间美国南部各州以及边境各州对有色人种（主要针对非洲裔美国人，但同时也包含其他族群）实行种族隔离制度的法律。
- Frederick Douglass（1818-1895）：一位革命家、政治家、演说家、作家。在马里兰州从奴隶生活中逃脱后，他成为废除奴隶制度与社会改革的领袖，是废奴运动的代表人物之一。著有「一个美国黑奴的自传」。

What's Next｜科技早知道#31 连马斯克、比尔盖茨都被牵扯的诈骗案，是怎么回事美国时间7月15日下午，一大波推特账号同时被盗，被盗后，这些账号都发布了类似的诈骗信息。大意是如果你向制定账户汇入比特币，将会双倍返还，并指明活动时间只有三十分钟。
这次被盗取的推特账号包括：比尔盖茨、巴菲特、贝佐斯、马斯克、奥巴马等，以及许多知名 KOL。同时，几大虚拟货币交易平台的推特账号也被盗取。据很多被盗账户的拥有者反应，骇客完全控制了这些账号，并已经更改了这些账号的联系邮箱，这给用户重新掌控这些账号增加了难度。推特很快做出回应，表示正在调查这个事件，有进展就会给大家更新。
