Vier mal sind die Schumanns in Düsseldorf allein in den Jahren von 1851 bis 1854 umgezogen. In der ersten Wohnung, am Rande der Altstadt, störte sie der schreckliche Straßenlärm, in der zweiten Wohnung flogen die Schumanns raus, weil das Haus verkauft wurde. In der dritten Wohnung in der Herzogstraße klagte man über entsetzliche Nachbarn und von der vierten Wohnung aus in der Bilker Straße spazierte Robert am Rosenmontag 1854 los, um sich in den Rhein zu stürzen.
