TNP240 {WNY Retreat Miniseries} A Brief History of Intuition with Carmen Spagnola
In this essay I will show how Thomas Aquinas, due to his early life attachment ruptures and abandonment wound, and under the influence of the violent toxic masculinity of the Inquisition and Aristotle's writings, became a 23 year old incel who went on to drive an 800 year wedge between intuition and the mind for people of European descent. Enjoy! Mentioned in this episode: Terror of History: Mystics, Heretics, and Witches in the Western Tradition with Professor Teofilo F. Ruiz, Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles Why Evil Exists with Professor Charles...

Transforming Culture
The Abortion Debate
Welcome to another episode of Transforming Culture from MBC! We're thrilled that you're joining us for another session where we engage with an important cultural debate. This week, we're talking to Dr. Laura Lewis about the debate around abortion, and how to support those who are making decisions during an unexpected pregnancy. When we asked Dr. Lewis to join us for the summer of 2022, we had NO idea that the Supreme Court of the United States was going to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision that has been the cornerstone of abortion rights in that country. While we live...

2021 Doxacon: Charles Dickens, MCU v LOTR, and Bees
Doxacon is a gathering of Orthodox Christians with an interest in fantasy, sci-fi, and gaming. This year they asked me to deliver the lay keynote (conference theme: "Making Virtuous Decisions in Fiction"), and I confessed that I don't know much about those popular forms of media. So we compromised. First, I speak about Charles Dickens, and how some non-virtuous personal decisions affected his life and his writing; then my son, Fr. Stephen Mathewes, relates the "virtuous decisions" question to some popular books, movies, and videogames. At the end I came back with a few thoughts about bees. Enjoy!

Off Script 40: Roy More, Gay Wedding Cakes, and White Evangelicals
While scrolling through Facebook, I came across Charles Mathewes’ Washington Post article, “White Christianity is in big trouble. And it’s its own biggest threat.” At first reading, I was infuriated at what I felt were unfair criticisms, but after I thought about it, I realized what an opportunity this article presented. It collects together no less than thirteen criticisms against Christianity. In this episode Dan Fitzsimmons, Rose Rider, and I (Sean Finnegan) respond to the first seven, including: Our society’s war on Christmas bothers Christians A Christian baker refused to sell a cake for a gay wedding 80% of white evangel...
