Chris is passionate about the concept of sharing as a way to tackle the climate crisis, and also as a way to save money, and to build social connections in communities. By sharing, everyone is richer. The Edinburgh Tool Library started out as a set of shelves in a spare room. Now it’s a city-wide organisation with multiple sites, including a tool maintenance depot, two wood workshops, a library and a police box. The Library runs classes, youth pr...2020-05-1036 minIrish Composers CollIrish Composers CollAnselm McDonnell - Crossing The FirthCrossing the Firth Crossing the Firth is my first work for electronics and manipulates vocal materials derived from a single plainchant melody and its spectral analysis. The plainchant was sourced from the Inchcolm Antiphon, a collection of Scottish chants used in the Abbey on Inchcolm, an island in the Firth of Forth. By using references to sacred music and the ethereal effects produced by extreme reverb, the work touches on humanity’s estrangement from God, distanced by sin. This music will be used as...2019-02-0609 minSustainable(ish)Sustainable(ish)[005] – HOW TO GET STARTED WITH A SUSTAINABLE LIFEIn this episode we look at what Sustainable Living even means, and how to get started when it might be feeling really overwhelming.
