Clare Sinn Féin TD Dismisses MidWest Reps HIQA Meeting As Photo-Op
Clare's opposition TD has dismissed a recent meeting of MidWest politicians over the HIQA review as an optics exercise. Only government Oireachtas members from Clare and Limerick along with Mayor of Clare Paul Murphy attended the event, where they decided to lend support to a three-tiered HSE plan aiming to solve overcrowding in the region. Despite being invited, TDs from Sinn Féin, Labour and Independent Ireland declined to attend. Shannon Sinn Féin Deputy Donna McGettigan believes it was a talking shop that won't deliver real results.

Council Claims Algal Bloom Isn't A Concern In East Clare
Clare County Council insists algal bloom isn't a concern in East Clare and doesn't pose a threat to its tourism offering. The local authority has deemed Ballycuggeran and Mountshannon safe bathing areas once again after assessments showed no evidence of algal bloom at either location. It comes as planning permission has been granted by An Comisiún Pleanála for the upgrade and enhancement of facilities at Inis Cealtra and Mountshannon Village. Clare County Council Head of Tourism Deirdre O'Shea says the waterways are closely monitored for the presence of algae.

Donation Drive For Unwanted Bikes For Clare People In Need
A new initiative will allow second-hand bikes to be given away to those in need in Clare. Clare County Council has launched an appeal for unwanted children's and adult's bikes to be donated to its central waste management facility in Inagh, up until November 8th. The bikes must be in a reasonable state of repair as they will ultimately be fixed up, and given to people in need of transport support. Clare EV Owners Club Founder Concerned By Budget's EV Measures
A Clare-based electric vehicles enthusiast fears Budget 2026 hasn't done enough to incentivise the purchase of EVs. As part of the raft of measures announced this week, the €5,000 Vehicle Registration Tax for electric vehicles has been extended but only until the end of 2026. Petrol electric hybrid vehicles are the most popular in Clare so far this year with 671 sold up to the end of September according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. Clare's Housing Market "In Trouble" If Second-Hand Activity Continues To Falter
It's claimed Clare's housing market will be in "real trouble" unless more second-hand stock becomes available. Daft.ie's latest House Price Report shows the number of housing transactions and exisiting homes for sale in Munster both fell last year. In Clare, meanwhile, the average price of a two-bed terraced home soared by 31.5% which is the highest increase of any property type nationwide, while four-bed homes went up by over €35,000. 93 Clare citizens have penned an open letter to this county's four TDs seeking multi-million euro investment in youth services. The letter, seen by Clare FM states that "youth services are under real pressure and that the cost of living, years of funding and rising demand are making it harder". Clare Aontú Renews Call For 'State Of Emergency' To Be Declared For Midwest Homelessness
Clare Aontú has renewed its call for a state of emergency to be declared to tackle homelessness in Clare and across the Midwest. It follows the party's pre Dáil 'Think in' which was held in Maynooth this past weekend. The latest figures show there are 73 adults in Clare living in emergency accommodation, while a further 232 children across the region are homeless.
