Im Juli 1980 ging ein Foto um die Welt. 13 Menschen aus El Salvador waren bei dem Versuch, in die USA zu gelangen, in der Wüste von Arizona verdurstet. Die junge Dora Herrera war die einzige Überlebende.
Heute setzt sie sich selber für Migrant*innen ein. Gemeinsam mit anderen Freiwilligen, die die "killing fields" im eigenen Land nicht hinnehmen wollen. Sie befüllen Wasserfässer, um andere vor dem Verdursten zu retten. Suchen nach menschlichen Überresten, um verzweifelten Familien ein Abschiednehmen zu ermöglichen. Denn trotz aller Grenzschutzmaßnahmen: die Migrant:innen sind nicht aufzuhalten.
