甲必丹 Capitan 【大航海時代的台灣歷史】淡水。歷史現場再現 EP-003：淡水開港 (完整版) || 台灣海事博物館淡水。歷史場景再現第三集淡水開港各位好，我是台灣海事博物館社群的主持人姚開陽，歡迎觀看「淡水。歷史場景再現」。今天是第三集，主題是「淡水開港」。與其他各集一樣，除了豐富的故事，我還要加上許多我自己繪製的歷史場景再現插畫，來創造沉浸式的體驗，這是本節目的特色，是別人所沒有的。1858 年英法聯軍之役的結果簽訂了「天津條約」，增開臺灣的安平與淡水為口岸，之後又以雞籠為淡水的副港﹑打狗為安平的副港。不過淡水的正式開港應該以1862 年7 月28 日，福建候補道區天民在滬尾守備署開設海關，正式徵收關稅起算。1863 年，也就是同治2 年，清廷在總稅務司下新設立「副稅務司」一名，專門管理臺灣四個新開口岸的關稅業務，英國人侯威爾（John William Howell）擔任首任副稅務司在滬尾辦公，所以滬尾成為本關，雞籠、打狗、安平則列為分關，徵收的關稅統一由滬尾關轉交天津關庫收納。所以可知當時淡水的地位是超過其他三個口岸的。海關進駐之後最早建立的建築群是「關署區」，它的位置在今天紅毛城下方的停車場，包括有辦公室、船員宿舍、倉庫等建築。這些建物在1895 年日本剛統治台灣的照片還可以看得到，但是今天都已經不存在了。其次是「官邸區」，也就是目前著名的婚紗攝影景點「小白宮」。這是由海關副稅務司長郝伯遜於1866 年購買土地，1869 年規劃興建，為殖民地式樣帶迴廊的建築型式，共有三座洋樓分別提供副稅務司長、秘書和部屬居住，當時淡水人稱之為「埔頂三塊厝」。由於海關建築群通常位於河口要地，所以稅務司官邸也有極佳的視野，本人所畫這一幅插畫，即是表現在觀音山與淡水河的美景前喝下午茶的優雅風情。1884 年清法戰爭法軍艦隊進攻淡水，三座洋樓中部屬所居住的那一幢被法艦的砲火炸毀，只剩下兩棟。1895 年因日本人占領台灣而移交海關業務，本官邸於8 月5 日一併交給日本人管理。1896 年日本卸任首相伊藤博文來台灣參加始政周年紀念儀式的時候曾經在此居住，並且有和藝妓阿勉的風流韻事傳說。之後這兩幢建築曾經做為稅關的俱樂部與淡江中學的學生宿舍，日益破敗。戰後國府接收拆除了其中一幢，只剩司長官邸。到了1996 年財政部本來要全部拆除改建為員工宿舍，被地方文史工作者搶救保存，成為三級古蹟。接下來是「碼頭區」，也就是今天的「稅關碼頭」。它的建設由清代開始一直到日治時期才完工，全長約為150 公尺，分為三段，石砌建築非常堅固。它的特色是有15 根「繫船石」以及「登船口」，可供船舶停靠和上、下貨使用。入口的小洋樓約建於1895 年，臨碼頭的幾幢倉庫則是建於1920 年代。這一幅圖呈現在日本統治時代，淡水常駐有數艘驅逐艦停泊於稅關碼頭前。當時的總督府與海軍之間有協議，這些驅逐艦要兼職海上緝捕海盜的任務。「稅關碼頭」在戰後長期被海軍使用稱為「海光營區」，之後為海巡接手。到了2000 年才公告為市定古蹟，並由新北市文化局接手，整修後開放。配合淡水開港，英國於1861 年在淡水設立領事館，1867 年英國政府與清廷訂定《紅毛城永久租約》以一年10 兩紋銀的代價租用原為荷蘭人於1644 年興建的「安東尼堡」，也就是俗稱的「紅毛城」做為領事館址，英國人租用之後做了較大幅度的改建，包括四周新增圍牆，將原來白色的堡壘漆成紅色，並且加了一座突出的小碉樓。之後並於1891 年在它的旁邊興建領事官邸。英國領事館在二戰期間被日本人查封，戰後即發還。1950 年英國與中共建交，但英國在北京只有設代辦處而沒有大使館，反而在沒有邦交的台灣淡水紅毛城設有領事館。英國在1972 年隨美國與中共關係正常化之後才在北京設立大使館同時撤銷淡水的領事館，轉由澳大利亞及美國代管，英國人的政治手腕可見一班。直到1980 年才由中華民國政府收回並被指定為國定古蹟，在整修後開放參觀。英國領事官邸是1891 年完工，位於紅毛城的東側，是英國在臺灣所建造的第三座，也是最後一座的領事官邸。領事官邸由英國人郝勃遜設計，中國工匠施工建造，它是屬於英國殖民式，帶有拱型迴廊的二層紅磚洋樓建築，而施工的中國工匠則帶來許多閩南式建築的細部風格。前方的草地據稱是台灣第一座網球場。第一任英國駐台領事史溫侯(Robert Swinhoe，或翻譯為郇和)，他是協調租下紅毛城的人，而且他不僅是位外交官，還是位著名的動植物學家，他利用職務之便長期在華南與台灣進行動物研究包括鳥類、哺乳類與昆蟲類，有許多品種以他的名字命名。另一位值得一提的是翟理斯(Herbert Allen Giles)，於1885 到1891 年任淡水領事，所以是負責建造官邸的人，他離任時剛剛完工。翟理斯是位漢學家，曾翻譯孔子、老子、莊子等中國古代思想家著作介紹給西方社會，後在劍橋大學擔任中文教授，長達35 年。既然開港就表示外國軍艦可以進駐，所以英國長期有一艘炮艦駐在淡水港，清朝的水師也輪派有兵船進駐。以1884 年10 月清法戰爭滬尾之役時為例，當時在港的英國炮艦是「金龜子」號，清國水師則是馬尾船政局建造的第一號輪船「萬年青」號。兩艘軍艦都被法國艦隊封鎖在港內，到第二年才得以離開。說到開港，就必須提到洋行。洋行類似今日的進出口貿易公司，國外產品的代理商，有些還自營輪船航運業務。洋行都是由洋人設立，不過會聘請華人當「買辦」。洋行通常設在碼頭邊以方便監視船隻進出、裝卸貨物與報關，洋行的建築空間通常包括辦公、倉儲與住所，型式通常是帶有拱型迴廊圍繞的熱帶殖民式風格。淡水有所謂的「淡水五大洋行」，也就是：「和記」、「怡和」、「寶順」、「德記」與「得忌利士」。其中最早也是最大的就是英商「怡和洋行」（Jardine Matheson)，他們早在1858 年就在淡水、大稻埕與打狗分別設立據點。其次要特別提到「寶順洋行」(Dodd & Co.)。「寶順洋行」是英國籍的蘇格蘭人約翰·陶德(JohnDodd)所設立。約翰·陶德可說是台灣茶葉產業的開山祖，他從福建安溪引進茶種，委託近郊山區的茶農契約農作，又創立品牌，建立通路，讓台灣的茶葉成為倫敦上游社會的高檔貨，創造了大稻埕的繁榮。由於淡水是大稻埕的外港，所以「寶順洋行」分別在大稻埕與淡水都設有據點，大稻埕的買辦就是李春生，而約翰·陶德則較常在淡水。至於「得忌利士洋行」(Douglas Lapraik & Co.)則是以航運業務著稱。Douglas 翻譯成「得忌利士」各位可能覺得很奇怪，那是因為得忌利士洋行的總部在香港，這是廣東話的翻譯。「得忌利士洋行」是一家以香港為基地經營華南航線非常有歷史的航運公司，也是早年航行台灣的重要外商輪船公司之一，經營有淡水、香港航線，並獨佔台灣到華南的海運市場，之後才涉入進出口代理業務，這是他與其他洋行不同的地方。淡水的「得忌利士洋行」建於1871 年，分為前後兩棟，前棟名為「第一檢查場」，後棟名為「輸入品倉庫」。前棟為面寬五開間的一層樓磚石砌建築，後棟為矩形的廣間型建築。得忌利士洋行的前棟目前面臨中正路，事實上早年前方是直接臨淡水河的，因為那兒就是得忌利士洋行的碼頭。在日本佔領台灣之後，得忌利士洋行被日本殖民政府刻意排擠，最後不得不退出台灣的航運市場。淡水得忌利士洋行的建築雖然於2013 年修復做為「得忌利士洋行博物館」使用，但前方臨水的碼頭景觀已經不可能回復。雖然稱為「得忌利士洋行博物館」，但館中展品稀少，有關得忌利士輪船的內容更是幾乎沒有，而且空間常被挪為其他目的使用，十分可惜。德忌利士洋行的輪船早年所搭載的旅客當中，有一個影響淡水深遠的洋人，那就是馬偕(GeorgeLeslie Mackay)。馬偕在1872 年3 月7 日攜同李庥牧師（Rev. Hugh Ritchie）、德馬太醫生（Dr.Matthew Dickson）由打狗，也就是今天的高雄搭乘英商德忌利士公司的「海龍」號輪船(SS HaiLoong)途經安平港，於3 月9 日在淡水登陸，開創了台灣北部長老教會與馬偕博士個人在台灣的歷史地位。馬偕牧師為蘇格蘭裔加拿大籍人士，曾在加拿大、美國與英國愛丁堡受神學教育，由加拿大長老教會海外宣道會派遣來亞洲傳教。馬偕來到滬尾後除了建立教堂，還培訓台灣本地的傳道人，讓長老會本土化。馬偕酷愛旅行傳教，在旅程當中累積經驗發現行醫施藥是最有效接近台灣人的方式，所以創建「偕醫館」，後來發展成台灣著名的馬偕醫院系統。很多人以為今天的「滬尾偕醫館」是以馬偕自己的名字來命名，其實那是一位同名的美國底特律船長過世之後。遺孀為了紀念先夫，於1879 年捐款3000 美元，馬偕博士用其中2500 美元興建了這座醫館，所以被命名為「滬尾偕醫館」。這是北台灣第一座正式的西醫醫院，它的建築由馬偕親自設計，當地泥水匠洪泉負責營造，所以呈現閩南與西式建築混和的風格。馬偕同時發現設立新式學堂也是幫助傳教的重要手段，於是在1880 年第一次回加拿大述職的時候到故鄉募款獲得加幣6,215 元。馬偕1881 年回台後就利用這筆款項做為基金，親自選址、規劃、設計、監工，興建這座融合了基督教義與閩南式四合院的建築，於1882 年7 月26 日竣工，9 月14 日開學。這幢建築被命名為「理學堂大書院」。英文名Oxford College，所以也被稱做「牛津學堂」。Oxford 這一個名字的由來是因為馬偕的故鄉牛津郡是贊助資金的主要來源。牛津學堂不僅是神學院與醫學院之所在，後來也是淡江中學與真理大學的起源地。目前牛津學堂已經被長老教會北部大會作為史蹟館，並且被政府列為國定古蹟。馬偕於1878 年5 月27 日迎娶住在五股的台灣女子張聰明為妻，後代在台灣以「偕」為姓，他的兩個女兒也都嫁給台灣人的牧師與教會長老。所以馬偕在台灣能建立歷史地位絕不僅因為是長老會牧師，他還兼具教育家、醫學家，與台灣女婿的身份。1901 年6 月2 日馬偕因為喉癌去世，葬在淡江中學，享年57 歲。淡水每一個景點的背後都有豐富的歷史故事，在欣賞美景之餘如果能有故事幫助想像，就能創造主題旅遊的價值，這就是我們節目希望達成的目的。謝謝收看，下次再會。
