Enchanting Stories of New Mexico - why is everyone so taken by NM chile peppers?
I had an interesting question from someone: “Why is everyone so taken by chile?” Most of us were born here in New Mexico and do not remember a time when we were not eating chile peppers. Yes, we had baby food, but then came green and red chile. We loved it. Let’s explore why people here and all over the world find New Mexico chile so very great. And it is great. There are facts about New Mexico chile to think about: for people coming to New Mexico, it is a taste that some visitors and residents embrace enthus...

Enchanting Stories of New Mexico - Chile goes on everything
Glad you could join me today for a Podcast about the History and Culture of New Mexico with an emphasis on Agriculture since at least three times a day I use Agriculture. I don’t always think about myself using Agriculture. Mostly, I think it is time for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or maybe it is time for a Fresh Chile snack in between one of the meals. While I like almost every Agricultural product, two of my favorite areas of products are beef and Chile. I often combine the two with either lots of Chile on beef or be...

Enchanting People of New Mexico - Football Player Don Perkins
Today I’m talking about Donald Anthony Perkins. In those days it wasn’t unusual that he played both offense and defense, so he really had to be in shape since he was on the field the whole game. On offense, he was a running back and a defensive back for the UNM Lobos along with being a kick returner. In 1958 he led the nation in kickoff returns. And he had a great National Football League career. Then Don Perkins returned to New Mexico for the rest of his life.Love this Podcast? Check out our website at T...

Enchanting Stories of New Mexico - New Mexico Chile is many things
I was talking with some visitors to our area of Southern New Mexico the other day. One person asked, Is Green Chile a food, a condiment, a spice, a trade good or a medicine? I answered, Yes to all and more. First off it is a food and it is spreading across the taste buds of America. Years and years ago not that many people had the good Chile Pepper smile after a meal. Then people would bring some back to their home states and their friends would enjoy the taste. So the Chile Peppers in New Mexico are...
