He spent 8 years touring the world with Ellie Goulding and also held down the low-end in Kyle Minogue's band for a year. He is often cited in lists of the world's greatest-tone alchemists such as Tim Lefebvre, Janik Gwizdala, and Steve Lawson. This was a brilliant chat and I was schooled on this effects stuff and really enjoyed hearing about Simons's bass journey. A marathon meetingLast Monday evening JJ jumped on YouTube to watch our city councillors in their monthly marathon session, also known as an Ordinary Meeting of Council. It started at 5:30 p.m. and lasted more than five hours. If you want to get a glimpse of how local politics works, it’s worth dropping in. One of the big talking points (or motions) last Monday was public toilets. Bottom line: we don’t have them. The executives from the City Council are also on hand to answer queries and provide updates to the councillors. Open secret here...

Content warning: suicide, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts. As it's Mental Health Awareness Week, I wanted to put out an episode that I felt most resonated with myself and my mental health advocacy at present. Over the last few months, I've worked closely with foundations and individuals that work in honour of those we have lost. In February 2019, Sam tried to end his life and whilst he knew he could open up to friends and take advantage of the opportunities when asked if he was okay, he couldn't and that really hit home for me. Episode 31 - Embrace How You Feel.
This week's guest is fellow podcaster (and YouTuber!) Michael Collins. Growing up, Michael was taught to hide his emotions, there wasn't any time for vulnerability and it certainly wouldn't get you very far. It wasn't until he reached adulthood that Michael began to embrace how he felt, letting go of those societal expectations as a man, as a Black man, to be 'strong' and not fear negative emotions. It's a really hard transition to make, especially when these mindsets are so deep-rooted in childhood, but both Michael and myself can see the magic and power that vulnerability gives you.

I discovered Rosie on Tiktok (as @weightlosswithrosie) back in June 2020 and immediately fell in love with her positivity and body confidence. Whilst documenting her weight loss journey is the primary aim of her account, it was the self-discovery of belief and fighting that inner critic that struck me. Rosie’s self-belief has not only transformed her life, but almost 100,000 others. Fighting that inner critic isn’t easy, but my god does it pay off when we do.--- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode 21 - The Power of Conversation.
I met Fran over the summer when I guest panelled some discussions for her Resilife team at Kings. What was evident then, today, and every day, is just how important talking about our mental health is. In honour of World Mental Health Day, Fran shared her insights into life as a family therapist, facilitating that conversation for other people. What's evident both here in the UK and back home in Chile, is the understanding of context in mental health. Things won't change unless policy and funding does too, which is why day's like today are so vital.--- This episode...

'Tea and Talk' on Body Positivity with Kings College, London.
At just fourteen, I was introduced to the world of extreme dieting, which led to an incredibly unhealthy relationship with myself, food and my body. I began to control every aspect of my life, which as we know is totally impossible and for me, became ultimately self-destructive. Believing I would be happier if only I were thinner dominated most of my adolescent years, and it made me miserable. Now, I remind myself, and others, that we have so more to offer the world than just our appearance, and I won’t let society convince us otherwise.
