Dr. Hamid Fadlalla ist ein sudanesischer Arzt, Wissenschaftler und Kritiker, der sich insbesondere in Deutschland einen Namen in der europäischen Diaspora gemacht hat. Schon früh zeigte er eine ausgeprägte Leidenschaft für wissenschaftliches Denken und Literatur – zunächst in Omdurman, später in Kairo, bevor er sich schließlich in Berlin niederließ. Dort engagiert er sich aktiv für ein positiveres Bild arabischer Einwanderer und setzt sich für gelungene Integration ein.
In dieser Ausgabe von „Divan im Gespräch“ spricht Dr. Fadlalla über den Sudan – über das Klima, die Literatur und Kultur seines Heimatlandes, seine Freundschaft mit Tayeb Saleh, die großen sudanesischen Dichter sowie über Entwicklung und Menschenrechte.
