Starting with two turns in Fairclough's approaches to critical discourse analysis, William and Fan attempt to draw the critical analysis of discourse into deep, broad and complex critical analysis of the society in specific journal articles. We find that it is the macro, fluid and inclusive nature of critical discourse analysis that makes it such a vital and interdisciplinary critical theory that engages with reality directly.
