每年踏入12月，大家會想到聖誕節很快就來臨，家中會開始佈置，會安排家人和親朋見面、相聚、慶祝一翻。雖然每年都會過聖誕節，但怎樣才可以渡過一個有意義的聖誕節呢?
首先，我們要回到聖誕節的真正原因，原來並非與大家常常提到口邊的聖誕老人派禮物有關，聖經上記載著耶穌的降生，先是有天使跟馬利亞說，她將會懷孕生子，而她所生的就是救世主耶穌。有一個晚上，當牧羊人在看守羊群時，天使向他們顯現，告知他們耶穌降生的大好消息。天使說:” 不 要 懼 怕 ！ 我 報 給 你 們 大 喜 的 信 息 ， 是 關 乎 萬 民 的 ；因 今 天 在 大 衛 的 城 裡 ， 為 你 們 生 了 救 主 ， 就 是 主 基 督 。你 們 要 看 見 一 個 嬰 孩 ， 包 著 布 ， 臥 在 馬 槽 裡 ， 那 就 是 記 號 了 。忽 然 ， 有 一 大 隊 天 兵 同 那 天 使 讚 美 神 說 ：在 至 高 之 處 榮 耀 歸 與 神 ！ 在 地 上 平 安 歸 與 他 所 喜 悅 的 人 。” (路加福音2:10-14)。
無庸置疑，耶穌的降生，由天上到地下都是大喜的信息，rejoice，rejoice! 大大喜樂，普天同慶的真正原因。聖誕節的主角就是耶穌！透過耶穌的誕生，為我們帶來愛與盼望、喜樂與和平，這是上帝賜給人的一份大禮物。
今集主題: 聖誕節的傳統 (Christmas Traditions)
在2013年的12月，在美國加洲Sacramento的一間大學，名叫William Jessup University，就讀的一位黑人女學生Jackie Turner，住在學校的校舍內，她讀書成績很好，在校內還幫其他同學補習。12月時，當所有住在學校的學生都離開學校，回家與家人和朋友過聖誕節，大家熱切地計劃聖誕節假期的各樣活動和聚會，Jackie Turner擔心她會成為唯一一個留在校園過聖誕節的學生。她說: “每年1-11月她都是十分積極和正面地面對生活，但每年的12月對她來說是最艱難，因為每個同學都在談論他們 以往跟表兄弟姊妹、家人、朋友曾於聖誕節一起所做有趣的事情，帶來快樂和難忘的回憶。” 但Jackie說她從來沒有同學們談論的這些體驗，她的童年是被父親虐待的，捱餓和被打，從來没有見過她的母親。 於是她決定要給自己一個美好的聖誕節體驗，而不是為自己感到難過，所以她在 Craigslist 上發布了一則廣告，"I want to rent a mom and dad, maybe for like a couple hours." 意思是於聖誕節期間，找人能提供租用父母服務，幾個小時， 她願意每小時付費 $8 美元。若你不大知道Craigslist 是甚麽，它是一個免費的網站，其中一種服務是供給人將自己的需要刋登在網站上。 她希望這能除去心中的黑雲，感受到生命中有光和愛。”
Jackie 的廣告收到了數十條回復，大約一半人都自願意提供免費的幫助，願意像父母般陪同她過聖誕節，讓她可以感受父母的愛。而另一半的回復，竟然是其他與她有相同遭遇和感受的年輕人。 因此，她決定舉辦一個potluck聖誕聚餐，讓其他人都可以一同得到關心和鼓勵，成為朋友。因為很多人都有受傷和破碎的經歷，需要彼此相愛。當CBS News (哥倫比亞廣播公司)新聞採訪Jackie 時，她在訪問中表示，不僅在聖誕節為自己找到了一位導師，關心她，而且還幫助有需要的人找到其他人關心他們。日後她繼續舉辦聖誕聚會，因為不想有人會在聖誕節感到孤獨。
聖誕節是一個普世歡騰的日子，我跟大家分享一些很意義的聖誕節的傳統，作為參考。
一家人裝上聖誕樹和一起佈置，父母和兒女一起做，十分開心。
聖誕節前四週稱為Advent 將臨期 ，由最接近11月30日之星期日算起直到聖誕節，是為了慶祝耶穌降生的準備與等待，我們可以做一個叫Advent Donation (將臨期捐獻)，將臨期間，每天把一樣食物放入一個箱內，當將臨期完結時，可以把這個箱內的所有物品，捐給附近的食物銀行Food Bank，這樣就可以將耶穌的愛與其他人有需要的人分享，這些機構會把所需要的物品放在網站上。
一家人一起讀聖經有關耶穌出生的經文，如:路加福音2章8-20節。然後為一家人為著耶穌降生感恩而祈禱。亦有些父母是讀完這節經文後，大家才開禮物。
除了自己可以在12月份把一些衣物捐獻給一些需要的機構，亦可以叫子女找一些玩具或衣物捐獻，他們亦可能會於聖誕節期間收到禮物，教導他們不單單著眼點於自己收取禮物，亦是自己學習慷慨付出的機會。
參加一項叫名Samaritan Purse Shoebox 捐贈禮物鞋盒運動，讓一些貧窮國家的小朋友，亦能藉著禮物鞋盒感受到愛和關懷，還可以有禮物收。
在網上或報章查看一些華麗聖誕節燈飾，有些房屋的燈飾很漂亮或一公開的景點，一家人去參觀和拍照留念。有朋友還會一家人每年都選出那一間屋的燈飾是最漂亮，然後寫一張咭寄給屋的主人，讓他們知道他們的聖誕燈飾被他們選為第一名，亦多謝他們為社區的付出。
一家人一起砌薑餅屋gingerbread house，雖然我的兒子現在已經長大，但這仍是我們一起會做的聖誕節傳統，並會拍照留念。除了薑餅屋，市面上還有很多不同的薑餅火車或其它的款式，可以每年不一樣。
聖誕節期間，很多教會和機構都會辦一些聖誕節的音樂會、話劇或聚會，可以去參加感受一吓聖誕節的氣氛。
可以預備一些聖誕節的歌譜，一家人或朋友們一起唱這些聖誕歌曲。
我很喜歡於聖誕節期間，放一些nativity set耶穌誕生時的擺設，包括有耶穌的父親約瑟，媽媽馬利亞，嬰兒的耶穌、牧羊人，羊等。
每一年一家人都在同一個地方拍照留念，如聖誕樹下或家中附近的公園，等等。
到附近的圖書館借一些聖誕節的故事書，於將臨期間，每晚與子女讀一個故事。亦可與另外一些家長，互相交換聖誕節的故事，讀完就可以歸還。
寫一些聖誕咭給一些長者，他們很渴望得到別人的關心。
亦可以做一個蛋糕，上面寫著Happy Birthday Jesus! 耶穌生日快樂!
一家人一起看一些聖誕節的電影。

美國密之根州Michigan居民Chad Rose，因他公司的花車遊行後，剛好有一棵額外多出來的聖誕樹，於是為了不浪費：Chad 在 Craigslist 上發出一個帖文信息，有一棵聖誕樹免費贈送。 對於一些人來說，一棵樹是一年一度聖誕節不可或缺的一部分，但原來對一些人來說，錢要用於日常必需品，所以没法有多出來的錢買聖誕樹，這是一項需要節省的開支。 Chad 發佈廣告信息後，他的電郵收件信箱立即收到很多關於為什麼各個家庭都應該擁有這棵樹的感人故事。

原來有時我們付出，會比收到禮物更到開心和真正快樂。當我們看見很多人都是因為聖誕節，耶穌降生而有一個假期，一起與家人朋友一起慶祝，當中表現出的一份愛，是很美的。願一切的榮耀都歸予神。
