Artist Spotlight with Chip Freund
Artist Spotlight: Jim Hallenbeck
Growing up in Catskill, NY, Jim was constantly drawing. This led to being the art editor of his high school yearbook, majoring in Fine Arts at SUNY Plattsburgh, and obtaining a BS in Art Education from Florida International University of Miami in December 1979. Jim dreamed of being an art instructor and artist, however, that was put on a 35 year hold! Jim went to work for IBM in September 1979 in Boca Raton, FL. Later he transferred to Raleigh, NC in 1999. He retired from IBM as a Vice President in September 2014 and worked at Lenovo through January 2015. Now retired, Jim pursues...

Smart Cleaning School
Have You Thanked Them?
This episode was inspired by my friend and upcoming guest on the Smart Cleaning School. Vincent Pugliese is a coach, speaker, author, and mastermind leader. I was at his Total Life Freedom Retreat in St. Augustine in February as I've mentioned in a few recent episodes. It was so helpful and inspiring to be around 20 other entrepreneurs from around the country with ranging backgrounds and experiences. Together, we brainstormed and helped each other solve many of our current challenges. I'll be diving into one major takeaway I got in an upcoming episode called, "Yeah, That's Fear". Stay tuned. I w...

Story Warriors #013: Jim & Teri Reunite & Take A Stand
You stumble into a job at IBM and you climb the corporate ladder. All the while, something else is calling you from within: "I'm an artist." Says cool white dude, Jim Hallenbeck, on getting back into the craft of painting after three decades, "It took a lot of work." As Jim's works got juried, his former IBM colleague and cool black chick friend called him. Now a floral designer, Teri Freeland-Jones' appeal was simple: "Black lives really do matter." Check out the endeavors of two creative types who, after three decades, reignited their crafts and took a stand to...

The Prestige
ENTER THE DRAGON (1973) and Strength
This week our focus has shifted from the Japanese and Chinese films laying the groundwork for the Martial Arts genre, as we land in the realm of a classic of ‘Western’ cinema: ENTER THE DRAGON. There’s not a lot to say in terms of reviews — it’s ENTER THE DRAGON! — but we soon get onto discussions of breakout films, Western/Eastern editing, and a canny use of multiple cinematic genres. Next Week Next week sees us continue our movement Westwards, with another Martial Arts feature aimed at a Western audience: the 1984 classic (what a great year!) THE K...
