Don Asbee dropped out of college and drove from the east coast to Montana to begin his formal introduction to Blacksmithing by learning to make and apply horseshoes. He and his former wife joined the 'back to the land' movement and settled in Bland Missouri to raise a family and build a career in Blacksmithing from scratch, sometimes requiring multiple other kinds of work. Gene Robertson trained with Saul Alinsky in Chicago, got a double major masters in Community Development and Clinical Psychology and PhD in Community Development in Milwaukee.
