How TO Know God (How to Share the Gospel without Relying on Pagan Thought) (Pt 2) | Guest: Dr. Jeffrey Johnson
How do we help others to know God? It's one of the most important questions you can ever ask in life. But not everyone agrees on the answer—even among Christians. When you share the Gospel, you're practicing evangelism. In this episode, we're going to discuss how your view of how to know God directly impacts how you evangelize. Johnson is the president and professor of Expository Preaching, Covenant Theology, Ecclesiology, Apologetics at Grace Bible Theological Seminary. He's also the author of the controversial new book, The Failure of Natural Theology, in which he digs into the epistemology and theology of...

How NOT to Know God (Mixing Theology with Greek Philosophy) (Pt 1) | Guest: Dr. Jeffrey Johnson
Jeff Johnson wrote one of the most controversial books of 2021, and we’re going to talk about it with him. How do we come to know God? It’s one of the most important questions you can ever ask in life. But not everyone agrees on the answer—even among Christians. The study of knowledge is epistemology, and the study of God is theology. There have been very diverse approaches to both epistemology and theology within the church throughout history, but which approach is best? We're going to get into both epistemology and theology in this episode with Dr. Jeff Johnso...

Debate: Is evil evidence against God? Emerson Green vs. Dr. Khaldoun Aziz Sweis
Here’s the audio from my recent debate hosted by Adherent Apologetics on the problem of evil. I argue that with respect to suffering, the world looks about as we’d expect it to look if god did not exist. Atheists can do a much better job explaining the kinds, degree, and distribution of suffering we observe in our world. Specifically, I appealed to three lines of evidence: The biological role of pain and pleasure, gratuitous suffering, and divine silence during tragedies. (note – I accidentally said “When I was an atheist,” near the beginning when I meant to say, “W...

Do Christians worship the same God as other religions, especially Muslims and Jews? Consciousness: What a conversation from leading thinkers would sound like.
This is based on the article by the same name published in Think / Volume 8 / Issue 23 / September 2009, pp 45-53 Copyright © Cambridge University Press 2009 DOI: , Published online: 13 October 2009 In this talk, I read my article cited above. The following is an imaginary conversation on the ever elusive qualia, or the ‘what is it like’ feeling, or conscious experiences, that has left philosophers and cognitive scientists searching for answers. This article is meant to give the beginning reader an overall view of this phenomena. Qualia is the technical name for conscious experiences like seeing the colour red or listening to Handel's Messiah. The probl...

Four Objections to Christanity
OBJECTION 1: Religion is based on faith. You can’t trust faith. You can only trust what science says. Mark Twain said that "Faith is believing something you know ain't true." Christopher Hitchins wrote that “Faith is the surrender of the mind; it’s the surrender of reason, it’s the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other mammals.” b. OBJECTION 2: Christians are arrogant for thinking that Jesus is the only way to God. There must be other truths in the world about God from other religions. Christians only make up 2 billion of the 7 billion people on earth. How...

Naturalism is unscientific by Khaldoun Sweis
Naturalism is the strongest force against the legitimate expression of religion in the sciences today. I attempt to show the problems of naturalism in this paper which is composed of three parts. Part 1 is a struggle to find a coherent definition of naturalism as it is currently understood. In Part 2, I address the unscientific presuppositions of naturalism. Finally in Part 3, I frame and articulate to the naturalists’ community a strong argument against naturalism ala Alvin Plantinga and Richard Taylor, (different than the one raised by C. S. Lewis). This was a paper given at EPS 2008 in Rhode Island.
