DE 47: Podcasting and Collaborating with Deserving Mercy [Series Finale]
Author of Deserving Mercy, Ludrick Rell C. Cooper, joins me in the final episode of the Podcasting and Collaborating Series. Deserving Mercy is a book about a black college student who is charged with a serious crime while casually hanging out with friends in his dorm. A story I can relate to; one that is important to understand, especially during these trying times. This is the final episode of the podcasting and collaborating series. This particular episode is not necessarily about podcasting, but more focused on the book, Deserving Mercy. It was an honor to meet Ludrick...

Episode 12: When They See Us Film Review
More so like a movie recap instead. The topic of being black and wrongfully accused shown in another film, When They See Us, directed by Ava DuVernay premiered last summer 2019. So many different emotions can be discovered while watching this film series. I expressed the back stories as well as the emotions within this film. It is definitely a story worth learning... --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode 11: Just Mercy Film Review
In this episode, I discuss the film Just Mercy starring Michael B Jordan and legendary Jamie Foxx. This is a film about a black man who was wrongfully accused and convicted of a crime, which he did not commit. The wrongful accusation was motivated through racism costing him six years of his life awaiting death row. Episode IX: The Brian Banks Story
Recently, I watched a film called, "The Brian Banks Story. This film is based on a true story about NFL player Brian Banks. Just like me, Banks was wrongfully accused of a serious crime that he did not commit. It took a lot of hard work and patience for him to clear name and record to be exonerated. It was not at all easy for him to do so. This movie along with many others out there, tells the story of how crooked the judicial system can be especially for young men of color.

Episode VIII: Black Athletes in HBCUs
This episode is a lot different from the last episodes. On this podcast, I discuss my thoughts on a very trending topic especially during these high climate times as it relates to what's been going on so far as the killing of unarmed black men due to harassment from police. That trending topic is black athletes going to HBCUs(HIstorically Black Colleges and/or Universities) rather than attending a PWI(Predominantly White Institution). It all makes sense when you think of peacefully protesting... --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a...

Episode VI: 475, 432 Questions Part 1
One of my fraternity LBs(Line Brothers) recently purchased my book. However, he had no clue of how being a felon affected my life as a college student and graduate. He literally texted me and said that he had 475, 432 questions to ask me. At that moment, I knew I had to invite him on the podcast to dive in more of my situation. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode IV: I Gotta Testify Part 1
In this episode, I go a little deep behind the inspiration of what inspired me to write the short film, which led to me writing the book, and finally producing this podcast. Also, I take listeners on an emotional journey of what it felt like when I was personally wrongfully accused and convicted for a crime that I did not commit as a college student at an HBCU. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode III: Meet Dr Dunn featuring Steven Dunn
In my book Deserving Mercy, I created two characters. Steve, who Jamal met while in custody at the detention center and Dr Dunn, who was a professor at Bazemore College. I personally met Mr Steven Dunn about two years ago. He knew that I was writing this book. He always encouraged me during my process of writing and getting the book published. Well, it didn't dawned on me that I had named two characters after him till reading my book after being published. This was shocking to me but also a revelation.

Episode II: Pardons and Expungements
On this episode, I talk about two things that someone with a misdemeanor or felony on their record will need in order to clear themselves from their past. Those two things are pardons and expungements. I'm not a lawyer or legal expert. These are things that I've experienced and/or researched for myself. If you're someone or know someone with a criminal past on their record, please share this valuable information that I have for them on this episode!!! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
