Η Μαργαρίτα Χλη είναι Καθηγήτρια Ρομποτικής Όρασης και διευθύντρια του Vision for Robotics Lab στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και στο Πολυτεχνείο της Ζυρίχης.
Η έρευνά της συνέβαλε στην πρώτη αυτόνομη πτήση μικρού drone βασισμένου αποκλειστικά στη ρομποτική όραση, καθώς και στην πρώτη επιτυχημένη επίδειξη συνεργατικού SLAM για σμήνος μικρών drones, εξοπλισμένων το καθένα με μία κάμερα.
Η Μαργαρίτα έχει προσκληθεί να δώσει ομιλίες στο Παγκόσμιο Οικονομικό Φόρουμ (WEF) στο Νταβός, στο TEDx, και στο ICRA, ενώ το 2016, συμπεριλήφθηκε στη λίστα του Robohub με τις «25 γυναίκες στη Ρομποτική που πρέπει να γνωρίζετε». Ο κ. Στυλιανόπουλος έλαβε το Δίπλωμα Χημικού Μηχανικού από το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο το 2003 και την ίδια χρονιά εντάχθηκε στο διδακτορικό πρόγραμμα Χημικής Μηχανικής, στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Μινεσότα των ΗΠΑ. Εκεί συνεργάστηκε με τον Καθηγητή Victor Barocas, για τη μαθηματική μοντελοποίηση της μηχανικής συμπεριφοράς βιολογικών και τεχνητών ιστών. Κατά τη διάρκεια των διδακτορικών του σπουδών εξελέγη δύο φορές κορυφαίος διδακτορικός φοιτητής του Τμήματος.
Μετά την ολοκλήρωση του διδακτορικού του, τον Μάιο του 2008, εντάχθηκε ως μεταδιδακτορικός ερευνητής στο εργαστήριο του Dr. Rakesh Κ. Jain, στο Τμήμα Ακτινοθεραπευτικής Ογκολογίας της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Χάρβαρντ και του Γενικού Νοσοκομείου της Μασαχουσέτης των ΗΠΑ. Στο εργαστήριο του Dr. Jain πραγματοποίησε έρευνα τόσο υπολογιστική όσο και πειραματική, για τη βελτιστοποίηση της παροχής θεραπευτικών νανοσωματιδίων σε συμπαγείς καρκινικούς όγκους. Από τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2010 έχει ενταχθεί στο δυναμικό του Τμήματος Μηχανικών Μηχανολογίας και Κατασκευαστικής, της Πολυτεχνικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου.
Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου ίδρυσε το 2014 το Εργαστήριο Βιοφυσικής του Καρκίνου, που στοχεύει στη μελέτη και στοχοποίηση συγκεκριμένων δομικών στοιχείων και μηχανισμών του περιβάλλοντος καρκινικών όγκων, για την βέλτιστη αποτελεσματικότητα θεραπειών νανοϊατρικής και ανοσοθεραπείας.
Έχει συγγράψει περισσότερες από 120 δημοσιεύσεις σε περιοδικά με κριτές, ενώ έχει λάβει και δύο άκρως ανταγωνιστικές ερευνητικές υποτροφίες, από το Ευρωπαϊκό Συμβούλιο Έρευνας (ERC Starting Grant, ReEngineeringCancer, 2014-2018, €1,44 εκατ. και ERC Consolidator Grant, Immuno-Predictor, 2020-2025, €2 εκατ.).
Ένεκα της σημαντικής του συνεισφοράς στη μελέτη της μηχανικής καρκινικών όγκων και στην ανάπτυξη νέων θεραπευτικών στρατηγικών, του απονεμήθηκε το 2016 το βραβείο Y. C. Fung Early Carrer Award από την επιτροπή Εμβιομηχανικής της Αμερικανικής Εταιρείας Μηχανολόγων Μηχανικών. Είναι, επίσης, αποδέκτης των βραβείων Most Cited Paper Award (2014) και Best Student Paper Award (2018) από την Εταιρεία Βιοϊατρικής Μηχανικής των ΗΠΑ.
