Andrej Suttles: How He Built a Media Company on Consistency (Not Fancy Gear)
What actually grows a media business? Showing up. In this episode, Andrej Suttles (founder of Suttlesolution Media) shares how he went from shooting bulldog photos to producing podcasts, reels, and client content every week—by building a consistency + accountability machine. He talks free “test shoots,” fail-safes for production, authentic storytelling vs. Buzz Word Marketing, and why AI is a tool—not a substitute for showing up. What you’ll learn: - The origin story (mom’s binder hustle → first camera → dog headshots → media company) - The...

When Should You Sell Your Business? (Hint: Not When You ‘Have To’)
Most owners tie exit timing to age—not the business. In this roundtable, Dale, Marty, and Tom break down the real “right time to sell”: when you’re ready (mentally + operationally), the business is clean, and you can tell a story buyers will love. We talk about the 5 Ds that force terrible exits (death, divorce, disagreement, distress, disability), why “sell in strength” always beats scared selling, and how multiples interact with your EBIT and investment decisions (that “$1 now might cost you 8× in value”). We also hit earn-out/back-end risks (second bite of the apple), FOMO, and...

Why Leaders Don’t Ask for Help (BCD Syndrome Is Killing Your Company)
Most leaders don’t fail because of markets—they fail because of ego. In this episode of The Way to Value, Marty Osborne and Dale Thrush break down why leaders don’t ask for help and how BCD Syndrome (Blame • Complain • Defend) quietly destroys culture, hiring, and growth. They share practical plays: team-led hiring (“weigh in = buy in”), the Fresh Eyes onboarding practice, when to push back on yourself instead of your people, and why AI adoption is becoming a real-world growth litmus (are you learning or not?). What We Learned This Year: Strategy, Focus, & Execution

In this Yearly Recap of The Way to Value, Marty interviews Dale about the biggest lessons we learned this past year—working with founders, operators, and our own team. Your Mission Statement Is Permission to Play — Here’s How to Provide Real Unique Value
Most companies are shouting the same things: customer-focused, values-driven, people-first. If your competitors can say it too, it’s not a differentiator — it’s permission to play. In this episode of The Way to Value, Marty Osborn and Dale Thrush break down the difference between permission-to-play statements and true unique value. We pressure-test mission statements, call out Buzzword Marketing, and share practical exercises to craft a rallying cry your team can remember and reward — not just frame on a wall. Parker Baxter: Grants, EV Funding & Real Cost Savings
After 15 years at Michelin, Parker Baxter jumped from corporate innovation to launching Greener Fleets, where he helps trucking and delivery fleets become more profitable and sustainable! We talk why fleets adopt EV, CNG/RNG, hydrogen (hint: long-term cost + shipper demand), how California programs can cover ~$200k per EV to close the TCO gap, and why razor-thin margins make fuel savings a multi-million-dollar lever. Parker also shows how he uses AI/ChatGPT to build tools fast (like a diesel tax credit calculator in a day) and turn messy fleet data into useful decisions.

I constantly see people struggle because they know where they want to go, what they want their new software to do, or new processes they would like implemented, but they don’t know how to get there. Wouldn’t it be great if we just put in all our coordinates and a road map came out? Yes, it would. But unlike GPS, there is just so much more to life that needs to be taken into account.

See if this is a leader you want to follow: Leadership is patient, leadership is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Leadership does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Leadership never fails.

Have you ever heard someone say, “If I was in control I would do it this way”? Well I hate to break the bad news to you, but unless you are a dictator or a supreme overlord you will never have total control. The good news is that leadership is not about control, and it’s not about having authority.

I was visiting a friend in the hospital and as we sat around talking, we took advantage of the snack closet. We grabbed some saltines and graham crackers to settle our hunger pains. You can image that after hours of eating these crumbly snacks we made quite a mess. When the cleaning lady came in to clean the room, we were embarrassed by the mess and apologized profusely for the untidy state of the floor around us. I will never forget her reply. “No problem.
