On February 20th in sports history, one significant event took place in 1998 during the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. In the women's figure skating competition, a fierce rivalry between the United States and Russia came to a dramatic conclusion.The competition was primarily between two skaters: Michelle Kwan of the United States and Tara Lipinski, also from the US. Kwan, who was 17 years old at the time, was the reigning world champion and the favorite to win the gold medal.
