54. Give Me Your Angry, Your Lost and Your Lonely
Today we explore the radicalization of young men. How do authoritarian movements especially capitalize on men and bend them to their will? How does a kind, average boy grow up to be ordered to kill and say "I was just following orders"? Why do particularly conservative men buckle so quickly under perceived "more masculine" authority? The reality is that there are a lot of reasons. And they are the same reasons that men are living in a system that makes them feel lonely, invisible, unable to access emotions, and kills them young. Today we explore patriarchal...

54% of Gen Z individuals who disaffiliated from their childhood religion were women. For millennial women- 34%. For the first time in US History, men and young men are converting more to religion and filling the pews than women. Why? Women site gender inequality, systemic abuse, teaching limited roles for women, and lack of female church leadership as reasons for leaving. My opinion is that women are realizing that organized religion run by men, led by men, collaborated on by men, interpreted by men, translated by men, taught by men... might be a system built to CONVENIENTLY benefit men...

In the newest episode of the Vince Del Monte podcast, we're sharing a recent conversation we had with Gavin Meehan on the Modern Warrior Podcast. Although Gavin originally titled the episode "the dark side of masculinity" I was just trying to be as real and authentic as possible. What are the Seven Critical Times in Life That Require Estate Planning?
If you think that estate planning is something that can wait until your more “mature” years, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, many people share this same impression. After all, what is there to plan for if you have no spouse, no children, and only modest assets? Plenty! There’s much more to estate planning than merely deciding who gets your assets and other possessions when you die — putting it off until your later years isn’t a sound approach. Change is part and parcel of living, and as we move through life, we experience changes that can tho...

⛰️ Porn is Not Your Problem: It’s Way Bigger Than That (ft. Frank Rich)
When Adrian and I were young, we found a huge, black garbage bag in a forest near our home. When we opened it, we were shocked to see naked women staring back at us. We had just come across someone’s abandoned pornography collection and it scared the crap out of us.In today’s episode, Adrian is talking with Frank Rich, a long time friend of mine and founder of Rebuilt Recovery, an organization that helps men break free of the twisted hold that pornography has on them. The Challenges of Babylon
The story of Daniel being delivered by God from the lions’ den is famous (Daniel 6:1-28). It is a story that many Christian parents begin teaching their children early. It provides lessons about God’s power, God’s protection, prayer, and the need to always trust in the Lord. Many forget that Daniel wasn’t a young person […]

Today’s guest is Matt Beaudreau. We’ve been following Matt’s work for a while, especially since Adrian has been a teacher for 15 years. Matt is the founder of hundreds of schools around the world that resist the typical education model. Rather than rely on systems and programs that strip young heroes of their sovereignty and ability to truly learn, Matt’s schools focus on independent thought, self-awareness and authentic character growth. It’s what every parent wants for their child and it’s exactly what we get into today. Here are the hi...

Esther Starobin on SURVIVING THE HOLOCAUST: THE KINDERTRANSPORT
Greetings and welcome to episode 58! I had the great honor to talk with Esther Starobin, who shared her compelling story of surviving the Holocaust through a short-lived, British supported program called the Kindertransport ("children's transport") that helped to evacuate Jewish children from Nazi Germany. Only about 10,000 children were fortunate enough to participate in the program; Esther was one of them. Esther shares her amazing story, and also reflects on some lessons from her experience that are applicable today. The picture that accompanies this episode, by the way, shows a young Esther with the family that so generously opened their do...

T.S. Elliot: Tradition and the Individual Talent
Elliot is a great American poet of genius. In this podcast, I discuss his literary theory, specifically his attitude to the relationship between the individual poet and tradition. Elliot puts forth an attitude neither of blind conformity nor personal self-aggrandizement and detachment from tradition. Instead, Elliot calls for a depersonalization, in which the poet loses his own ego in becoming a medium for the current of the historical consciousness. Tradition is not automatically inherited as some rote procedure, but has to be laboriously acquired. Here is a link to the pdf of the brief essay Elliot wrote when still...

La Monte Young -- Composition 1960 #7
A recording of La Monte Young's Composition 1960 #7, which famously consists of an open 5th of B and F#, "to be held for a very long time". This recording was made on a Jeffries duet concertina. The chord was played once in each bellows direction, using the full extent of the bellows, and then time-stretched by a factor of 30. Each time-stretched file was then also reversed, and the four sounds overlaid, with some reverb and other post-processing. The time-stretching draws out some of the richness of the overtones in the concertina reeds.
