The Old Yarmouth Jail
Located on the western tip of Nova Scotia, along the Bay of Fundy is Yarmouth and a structure built in 1865 - The Yarmouth County Jail. It had 19 jail cells with iron beds and straw mattresses where prisoners would sleep with no bed sheets or pillows. It was in use by Nova Scotia Correctional Services until 2004 and was the last place Omar Roberts slept before he was hanged in 1922. He was accused and convicted of a horrific crime and is thought to wander the halls of the prison to this day.
