Sutradhar Mini Tales (हिन्दी)राजर्षि कौशिकनंदिनी गाय के हाथों अपने सैनिकों की पराजय देखकर महाराज कौशिक समझ गए कि ऋषि वशिष्ठ को हराने के लिए मानवीय शक्तियाँ सक्षम नहीं होंगी और उन्होंने दैवी अस्त्र-शस्त्रों का ज्ञान प्राप्त करने के लिए भगवान शंकर की शरण में जाने का निश्चय किया।
अनेक वर्षों तक शिवजी की तपस्या के उपरांत शिवजी ने कौशिक को दैवी अस्त्र-शस्त्रों का ज्ञान दिया।
इस ज्ञान को पाते ही, ऋषि कौशिक पुनः वशिष्ठ ऋषि के आश्रम पहुंचे और अपने दैवी अस्त्रों से आश्रम पर आक्रमण कर दिया।
शान्त स्वभाव के गुरु वसिष्ठ ने अपने ब्रह्मदंड से कौशिक के सभी अस्त्रों को निष्फल कर दिया और कौशिक को एक बार फिर गुरु वसिष्ठ के सामने पराजय का सामना करना पड़ा।
इस घटना के बाद राजर्षि कौशिक को समझ में आया की ब्रह्मर्षि वशिष्ठ को पराजित करने का एक ही रास्ता है, उनके समान ब्रह्मर्षि बनकर और वो फिर से घोर तपस्या मे लीन हो गए।

जब महाराज कौशिक को पता चला कि ऋषि वशिष्ठ के पास इच्छापूर्ति करने वाली नंदिनी गाय है जिसके कारण ये सब संभव हो सका, तो उन्होंने अपने सैनिकों से बलपूर्वक उस गाय को अपने साथ ले जाने को कहा।
परन्तु नंदिनी की दैवी शक्तियों के सामने कौशिक और उनके सैनिक कुछ नहीं कर सके और उन्हें हार मानकर वहाँ से जाना पड़ा।
इस घटना के बाद महाराज कौशिक ने निश्चय किया कि वो किसी भी प्रकार से ब्रह्मर्षि वशिष्ठ को पराजित करके ही रहेंगे। इस प्रकार प्रारंभ हुआ एक ऐसी प्रतिस्पर्धा का जिसके फलस्वरूप अंततः महाराज कौशिक ब्रह्मर्षि विश्वामित्र बने।

When Maharaja Kaushik came to know that Sage Vashistha had a wishing Nandini cow, which made all this possible, he asked his soldiers to take that cow with them by force.
But Kaushik and his soldiers could not do anything in front of the divine powers of Nandini and they had to give up from there.
After this incident, Maharaj Kaushik decided that he would live by defeating Brahmarshi Vasistha in any way. Thus began a competition that eventually resulted in Maharaja Kaushik becoming Brahmarshi Vishwamitra.
