wasabicube tracksmia (disquiet0623)I recorded a track, then played it through a Bluetooth receiver at the limit of its transmission range. I also recorded the EMF around the receiver, while playing the same track at distance.
The three tracks were merged, using vocoders, and AudioThing's Motor to help add some musicality to the broken Bluetooth track.

The sounds passed through are those that represent the edge, or umbra, that remains once the sound has been largely blocked by the harmonic filter. There are numerous voices that come and go, in addition, the filter lessens as the middle of the track is reached and increases again as the track ends. This represents the sun's travel through the sky as the day progresses.

There, the 'melody' was converted to MIDI using Ableton's built-in converter. Both them melody and MIDI were then played at half-speed. The melody was forced into the Lydian mode, and played with Reason Studios' Objekt. At the same time, Objekt was being resonated by the original recording (pitch processed into Lydian), via its sidechain channel. The resultant combination was then processed with the Remants granular delay, a Valhalla Supermassive delay, and the Wavesfactory Echo Cat tape delay simulation.

wasabicube trackssemi-silenzio (disquiet0607)I went down the rabbit hole of making a Max for Live device to allow a pulse wave to modulate the signal over a given interval with a percentage of silence. The device also incorporates a model of a vactrol to slightly ramp the pulse wave to prevent clicking.
I automated the percentage of silence between 60% and 100%. Drone and melody both provided by Arturia Pigments.

The track and the reverse of the track were sent to my modular, where the audio was chopped based on varying decay envelopes. Some of the signal was overdriven and some sent though a Wasp filter. The resulting signal was filtered using a SEM filter to remove some of the harsher frequencies. Three tracks were recorded using different settings, then merged in Ableton for the final track.
