ఫోన్ మాట్లాడుతున్న ఉదయ్ ముఖంలోని కదలికలను చదవడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తోంది ప్రవల్లిక. కానీ అతని ఎక్స్ప్రెషన్స్ అర్థం చేసుకోవడం ఆమెకు సాధ్యం కాలేదు. ఐపీఎస్ సెలెక్ట్ కావడానికి ఇదొక క్వాలిఫికేషన్ కాబోలు అనుకుంది ప్రవల్లిక. ‘చెప్పదగ్గ విషయమైతే ఫోన్ ముగిశాక అతనే చెప్తాడులే’ అని సరిపెట్టుకుంది. కానీ పావుగంట గడిచినా అతను మాట్లాడుతూనే ఉన్నాడు. ప్రవల్లిక, ముందు సీట్లో ఉన్న కిషోర్ తో మాట్లాడుతూ "ఉదయ్ గారికి జవాబు తట్టినట్లు లేదు. ఇక బెంగుళూరు చేరేవరకు ఆ ఫోన్ డిస్కనెక్ట్ చేయడమో" అంది కాస్త గట్టిగానే.. అతను వినాలని. అదేమీ పట్టించుకోలేదు ఉదయ్. అవతలి వ్యక్తి చెప్పే విషయాలకు అనుగుణంగా అతని ఫీలింగ్స్ స్వల్పంగా మారుతున్నాయి.
