И сегодня сбылась ее давняя мечта записать полностью альбом на темы этих замечательных произведений - Crossing Paths - Пересекающиеся Пути.
Для этого она пригласила не только бразильских музыкантов, но и самих композиторов и исполнителей народных песен. Из девяти пьес альбома пять вокальных, поэтому кроме хештега #latinjazz здесь уместен #vocaljazz с поправкой на современный. Рене сделала аранжировки песен хорошо знакомые в народе, но большинство из которых ранее не звучали в джазе. Получился очень приятный и душевный пост-босса-нова альбом, полный квинтэссенцией бразильских мелодий.
Латинский джаз обычно это зажигательные и танцевальные ритмы, но этот альбом спокойный и расслабляющий. Вокальные композиции приятно будет слушать за чашечкой кофе, а мастерство, виртуозность и чувство свинга больше проявляются в инструментальных треках. Один из лучших трек Empress Afternoon, концовка которого закроет этот подкаст, пренадлежит лидеру и был в её альбоме 2002 года, но здесь он звучит намного эффективнее. Также очень понравился Bow and Arrow - Лук и стрела, он пренадлежит тромпетистке, показывает общую картину виртуозности всех игроков и попадает в мой плэйлист, как лучший этого альбома. Ещё нравится работа барабанщицы, которая придает би-боповский дух, чисто играет на медленных участках и выдаёт прекрасные соло.

🎶Состав, охватывающий несколько поколений и стран: США, Канады, Франции, Чили, Израиля и Японии.
