A man in his 40s sparked a safety scare on April 5 by clinging to the outside connector between cars on a Taiwan Railways Taroko Express train. After missing the train at Nangang Station while buying food, he dangerously rode on the exterior for about five stops until the train was stopped at Qidu Station. Fortunately, he was unharmed. The Railway Police are handling the case under the Railway Act, which carries a maximum fine of NT$7,500. Taiwan Railways urges passengers to follow safety rules at all times.

BlickpunktUreinwohner kämpfen gegen Bergbau im TarokoDas gültige Bergbau-Gesetz stammt aus dem Jahr 1930 und ist damit in vieler Hinsicht veraltet, sagen Aktivisten. Dazu kommt, dass Taiwans indigene Bevölkerung überproportional durch den Bergbau beeinträchtigt wird, weil 60% von Taiwans Steinbrüchen in ihren Gebieten liegen.
Eine Ureinwohner-Gemeinde der Taroko-Berge in Hualien protestiert seit Jahren gegen einen Steinbruch der Asia Cement Corporation nahe ihrer Siedlung. Ein Gericht in Taipei hat ihnen am 11. Juli 2019 Recht gegeben. Doch der Bergbau dort geht vorerst weiter.

Taroko MusickinabaluI started this track over a year ago - trying to capture the experience of climbing Mount Kinabalu, four years with my friend Sascha. More than that, it was the feeling of being the highest I'd ever been and attempting to create that feeling ever since.
