Happy Halloween one and all! At last the saga of the Dracula myus has finally come to a close with this episode's coverage of the myu Last Dracul Saishuu Shou. We're not quite sure what happened in this one. Mandrake siblings, tiny werewolf babies, and a triangle box that is a prison sometimes but not all the time raise a lot of questions. Sailor Stars Episodes 3 & 4, AKA Local Ikea Runs out of Mirrors
We're talking episodes 169 and 170 of the 90s anime, AKA episodes 3 & 4 of Sailor Stars, AKA two of the BEST episodes of the 90s anime. Especially episode 169, which is a beauitfully contructed horror story of the psychological thriller variety. Though Mercury and Uranus's unlikely partnership in epiosde 170 provides some really nice character development for the latter, making for a compelling and satisfying viewing experience.

Named "one of the most important anime series of the 90s" by Anime News Network, it's a beautiful mosaic of classic shoujo styling, takarazuka, shadow puppetry and a whole lotta symbolism. More for your Manga: Exam Battle Chapter 3 - Rei and Minako's Girl School Battle
Keepin' it classic this week witih a good old fashioned manga side story that, aside from a really sexy Rei/Minako Naoko Takeuchi splash page/cover illustration, isn't worth writing home about. It had the potential to be a sexier of version The Ring, but instead of focussing on what could have been a scary, seductive ghost (who was trapped in a well, again, The Ring but sexy), it gets bogged down by fart jokes and unecessary bickering. Minako is her most vacuous , Rei her most callous - the whole thing feels very disjointed and out of character. But again...

Musical Moondays: Yume Senshi- Ai-Eien Ni...or, David Bowie Tiger's Eye
Our mini Myu marathon concludes with "Sailor Moon SuperS - Yume Senshi - Ai - Eien Ni..." which was delightfully entertaining after the previous two installments! We're not sure if it's just because the couple were so terrible or "Amour Eternal" was out least favorite of the post 20th Anniversary Myus, but we legitmately enjoyed this show. More than enjoyed, straight up liked - even loved, in Emma's case. The wigs are still tragic, the Senshi's civilian clothes are ridiculous, and Pegasus is a potentially seisure-indicuing light show, but other than that, this show is great! We're as shocked as...

Musical Moondays: Ai no Senshi e no Michi, or We got a Flying Harness and Dammit We're Using it!
Musical Moonday strikes again with Sera Myu Sailor Moon S - Ai no Senshi e no Michi! While agruably not the worst of the Myus we've reviewed thus far, it's certainly the least compelling due to fact that the villains had unclear motivations and basically didn't do anything. Except fly. Oh boy did Kaorinite every fly. And Chibiusa. And Sailor Moon. And Sailors Jupiter and Venus. And Tuxedo Mask on multiple occasions. Also, since the musical loosely followed the plot of the Death Busters arc, they did introduce the idea of the Holy Grail at the top of the show, the...

It's anohter Musical Moonday coming your way! This time all about the first Sera Myu that (sort of) covered the Black Moon Clan/Sailor Moon R story arc, Tanjou! Ankoku no Princess Black Lady. It suffers, albeit less so, from the same problem as the Dracula musicals: too many characters on stage, horrible lighting, Party City wings on Eternal Sailor Moon. And of course the dreaded additional characters and subplots created specifically for the show that no one wanted or cares about. But hey, Demande and Saphir are played by beautiful ladies and not male pseudo-gymnasts in dad jeans, so...

In honor of the upcoming theatrical re-release of the Sailor Moon R film, we're discussing the aliens upon whom the villain-but-also-Mamoru's-boyfriend was based – Ail and An! Specifically their antics in episodes 58 & 59 of the 90s anime, which was the conclusion of their story, and basically encapsulated the entirety of any semblance of meaningful plot in this classic filler arc. While we start off actually quite enoying these episodes, espcially in regards to Ail's respectful romantic feelings towards Usagi, we don't love the conclusion and ultimately dream up a couple of what feel are superior, but decidedly darker endings.

We're covering episode 95 – specifically the original Japanese version, and the often lamented Cloverway dub first seen on Toonami on June 19, 2000. This is the episode wherein the relationship between Uranus and Neptune in the dub was infamously branded "Cousins". It's the Sailor Moon Crystal season 3 finale!! This week we're covering act 38/episode 39 of Crystal, most of act 38 of the manga, and episodes 125 through 127 of the 90s anime, but mostly episode 126, which focuses on a very a confusing, seemingly unwarranted showdown between Moon, Uranus, and Neptune. It also contains a redemption storyline for Professor Tomoe in which, not only does he live, but he conveniently has amnesia, thus enabling him to live out a happy life with reborn baby Hotaru, with no memory of all the horrible things he did to her and all of mankind whilst possessed by Germatoid. In another thrilling round of discussing episode 125 of the 90s anime version of Sailor Moon we also discuss episode 38/act 37 of Sailor Moon Crystal and act 37 of the manga. A four part epic battle in the manga was compressed into the last six to ten minutes of one episode of the 90s anime, so needless to say, it's a little less intense. The one where we talk about a beautiful lady playing a more attractive version of Tuxedo Mask than any dude could possibly hope to achieve. This episode is all about Sailor Moon: La Reconquista, the first of the new Takarazuka (meaning, all the roles are played by women) style Sailor Moon musicals, initially released as part of the 20th anniversary celebration. We’ve got a super hilarious guest, comedian/host/cosplayer Alana Jordan, who dreams of someday playing the role of “Incense Face”, and points out to us th...

The Life and Times of Sailor Jupiter w/Amanda C. Miller!
It’s time to talk all things Sailor Jupiter with Sailor Jupiter herself, Amanda C. Miller! Amanda, who is a long time Sailor Moon fan, was kind enough to join us to talk episodes 49 and 55 of the 90s anime! Sort of… We mostly just geek out about our mutual long time love of the franchise as a whole. And attempt to analyze what multiple dreams involving run-ins with celebrities at fast food chains mean on a deep psychological level. Connect with us!! Episode 20: Married-ish
This week we cover episode 20 of Sailor Moon Crystal, Act 20 of the manga and episode 83 of the 90s anime. We wonder why 90s anime Chibiusa winds up passed out in the floor (yes, IN) and are convinced that her future-dad is secretly a bad guy. Lola finds further proof that the 90s anime Crystal Tokyo experience truly is Soarin’ over California, while Kelby applauds the fact that Tuxedo Mask, with the help of a hang glider, finally evolves in Ultimate Dracula. Episode 19: Soarin' Over the Space-Time Vortex
This episode covers episode 19 of Sailor Moon Crystal, act 19 of the manga, and episode 82 of the 90s anime. We concur that while the basic plot lines are more or less the same, the 90s anime encounter with Sailor Pluto at the Door to Time is kind of a bummer, and confusingly seems to be the start of the journey to the 30th Century, rather than the end of it. Also Usagi and Mamoru don’t uh, get to know each other better in the 90s anime, and that is also a total buzzkill.Connect with us!! Twitter: @LnJPod, tumblr: lovean...

Episode 18: Trapped in the Closet, Chibiusa Edition
This episode of the podcast covers episode 18 of Sailor Moon Crystal, act 18 of the manga and episode 72 of the 90s anime. We debate the "adult" nature of Petz's new accessory, realize that she and Calaveras are really not any meaner to their sisters now than they were when they were all on the same team, and totally geek out over Shitennou Jedi-Ghosts and Tuxedo Mask's sweet new attack.Connect with us!!
