How is your eyesight?
Light illuminates and allows one to see. No matter how dark it may be, light dispels the darkness. Matthew 5:15 tells us, Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. Matthew 6:22goes on to say, The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.

The birthing of a podcast based on three words of scripture
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. (Tit 2:11-14). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Over the years, I've come to rely on the use of acronymns. I'd like for us to examine two of them now: GRACE = God's Riches at Christ's Expense. PEACE...

When times seem hopeless can we trust God to be faithful?
Trusting God in the muck and mire of life can be a challenge. Do we dare trust Him when we can't see in front of us? Proverbs 3:5 and Romans 8 are the scripture references. Zenobia also shares from Carol Cymbala's song, He's Been Faithful to Me. To call in during the show, dial (563) 999-3623.

Easter: A Reminder of grace and peace
Who has believed what he has heard from us, And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for ou...

Some of the lyrics to a favorite song say: Everyday is a day of thanksgiving. God's been so good to me, everyday He's blessing me. Everyday is a day of thanksgiving; take the time to glorify the Lord today. I thank God for the moments when I worship His name, I thank Him for the sacrifice of praise. It's no mystery to say, how my God is everyday; making my way through clouds so dark, bringing His light into my heart. He keeps blessing me, blessing me... Don't Give it a Thought: Reckless and Careless Speech
Carole Mayhall, our author, shares: 'Reckless is defined as careless, heedless, not regarding consequences; headlong and irresponsible; rash. Some synonyms for reckless are incautious, unmindful, neglectful, unthinking, and thoughtless.' She says, "I am convinced that daily, perhaps hourly, we need to ask God to help us bite our tongues before voicing careless remarks that can hurt, even devastate. We need to ask Him to help us think before we speak."

Was that a complaint or did I mishear you?
Complaints are often comprised of Words That Hurt. For instance, my response to a dish or even an entire meal, by a family member or host, that I don't find pleasing is frowned upon or greeted with a few distasteful words. Such reactions give no thought to the labor and maybe love that went into its preparation. Someone who may have taken an hour or more to prepare something, specifically for me, is devalued within a few minutes. Today's chapter is entitled, Woe is Me!

James 3:5 says, the tongue is a small member. Yet, it boasts of great things... (6) It is a fire... (8) no human can tame it...(9) We use it to bless the Lord, God and to curse people who are made in His image. Chapter 2 of Words that Hurt Words that Heal is entitled, "Aren't I Terrific?" It helps us to discern the words, the type of talk, that should come out of our mouths and ready us to dispense words of healing.

Remembering her sister’s words, before her death, Corrie, when released [by accident] before her scheduled execution, traveleld the world telling everyone that there is no pit so deep, that He is not deeper still. Peace for Today: Part 2
Based on scriptures in Zephaniah, Psalms, and Numbers, Sheila Walsh unveils that God is the one who is in control. We are not. He is the one who gives us the wisdom, courage, and strength to live peacefully and peace-filled days, even among the daily chaos and personal challenges. My goal is that, together, we might find more confidence and strength for our individual journeys. Last week, we looked at a woman who had suffered years of emotional abuse and the biblical prophet Elijah, who stretched and pulled, learned that a good rest and nourishing food was what was needed to...

Reflecting on Thanksgiving
Welcome everyone. Today's broadcast is earlier in the day than usual. Thank you, for your indulgences, whenever I need them, to accommodate my schedule. Once again, I must ask, How did we get to the middle of November so quickly? In just seven days, we will celebrate the fourth Thursday in the month, known as Thanksgiving Day, here in the US. It is also the time of year when many of us at least think about how we might enjoy all of the food that somehow finds itself tempting our tastebuds, everywhere we turn. To assist us with this goal, I'd...

Our mindset matters
What is it that causes on person to look at a glass and declare that it is half full, while another person will observe the same glass as being half empty? One little word can describe it: Mindset. One dictionary says that mindset is a fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person's responses to and interpretations of situations. Another states that it is a particular way of thinking : a person's attitude or set of opinions about something. Today's segment helps us to examine our mindset.
