episode twelve. julia schneider. a years worth (twelve, not eleven).
episode twelve and the lockdown continues. We try to lighten the downstairs with the radiance of Talent Agent Julia Schneider. She’s a good friend of mine and a powerhouse in the industry. We talk about how she got here and the myriad of ways that she kicks ass. As always, our theme music is by Ian Campbell and the theme music is courtesy of Ted Peters and the Gumbo Ya-Ya. It’s getting nice out there so we’ll see you out on those bike paths, or as usual, back here same time next week. ...

episode eleven. dylan reibling. alma mater.
episode eleven finds us still locked down and talking to Dylan Reibling, a documentary filmmaker and multimedia direction who I went to film school with nearly 20 years ago. He’s a fascinating dude and we have a really wide-ranging conversation I think you’re really gonna enjoy. Our theme music is by Ian Campbell and the ad music is courtesy of Ted Peters and the Gumbo Ya-Ya. Thanks for listening everyone and once again, as always, wash those hands and stay safe out there.

episode 10. trae nguyen. a decade down.
Our tenth episode once again finds us still locked down and zoom-enabled as we talk to Trae Nguyen, the young artist behind, amongst a number of artistic endeavours, including but not limited to, The Hustler's Cookbook (@hustlers.cookbook) and is also the food stylist for Serge Ibaka’s How Hungry Are You web series. I’m a big fan of hers and you’re gonna be pretty soon too, just you wait. As always our theme music is by Ian Campbell and our ad music is used with permission of Ted Peters & The Gumbo Ya-Ya. Thanks for...

episode nine. bryn pottie. from a distance.
Our ninth episode finds us still socially distanced, still zoom-enabled, as we reach out for our first inter-provincial episode, to talk to Nova Scotia's own, writer/comedian Bryn Pottie. we talk about chasing your dreams to Toronto, finding viral success while riding out a pandemic in his parent's house and being one half of the hilarious comedy/poetry duo, The Definition of Knowledge, with Hannan Younis, amongst all sorts of other things in a wide-ranging conversation I hope you'll find as enjoyable as I did. As always our theme music is by Ian Campbell and ou...

episode eight. lesean harris. twenty-twenty comes for us all.
the eighth episode (and first of our socially distanced, zoom facilitated sessions- videos to follow maybe) finds us talking to director/photographer Lesean Harris. Lesean is a Toronto-based creative who specializes in narrative storytelling through music, sports, and lifestyle brands. We telecommunicated a pretty great conversation that took us from his earliest creative root all the way up through directing Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupris in Usher's latest music video, Don't Waste My Time, which you can see right alongside Lesean's other work on his website- leseanharris.com. Thanks for listening everyone and as always, now...

episode seven. dave dunville. another so soon?
in a move NO ONE saw coming. Another episode and only a week after the first. In our seventh episode Dave Dunville endures mild cat allergies and slightly less mild cat bites to sit down with me over acouple of beers to detail how he went from skateboarding camera man to horesehead afficianado to a big film muckety-muck (like the actual physical film strips more than the idea of films in general). It took a while Dave, but here it is, in basically all its glory.

episode six. alberto jossue. at long last.
We're back, baby! The downstairs returns in all it's glory just in time for us all to be locked inside for the greater good of everyone. This first new episode in nearly a year brings us Alberto Jossue, DJ, musician, producer and maybe most importantly, the creator of the brand spanking new Logic template I used to record this and all subsequent episodes. So if this whole thing sounds a lot better, he's the one to thank. We recorded this at the end of last summer, you know, back when hugs and parties and other people were a thi...

episode five. Rachel Wagner. eight months later.
Rachel and I are old friends going all the way back to fifth grade and you'll hear all about it in this, our newest, albeit pretty late, fifth episode. Apart from being a blast from my past, she's also a talented writer and television producer. Currently, she's working at the forefront of the Canadian-ing (if I might coin a phrase) of some of your favourite food-related reality tv; mouth-watering shows like The Great Canadian Bake-off, Iron Chef Canada and most recently Back In Time For Dinner on CBC. Rachel has also written and edited for a number of publi...

episode four. Dave Merheje. scheduled randomness.
In which I made actual, honest to goodness plans with someone who I have spent much of the last ten years only bumping into randomly. Dave was gracious enough to fit me in the last time he was in Toronto. We talked about life and the universe and most importantly, all the amazing things he's been up to and about these days.
